families beware in borovets

Me my wife and two children have just returned from borovets yesterday.
The holiday was good, there were three slopes open by the rila hotel thanks to the cannons, the gondola was running but the conditions at yastrabets were not good.
We stayed at the bor hotel which was clean and tidy, no swimming pool, no storage for skis although the brochure stated otherwise.

We stayed at the bor hotel which was clean and tidy, no swimming pool, no storage for skis although the brochure stated otherwise.

We regulary visited three bars on our evening walk after dinner, the white horse at the bottom of the piste to the right of the Rila hotel this was excellent, highly recommended .
The white magic opposite the samokov hotel, a very freindly little bar with a nice atmosphere.
We entered the happy duck on xmas eve i could not beleive my eyes, there were about 12 australian students jumping up and down on the tables, there had ripped the shutter of the window inside the bar and threw open the windows.
As we had been going in every night the barman had gone to get our drinks, as i tried to close the shutter and window i was told to F.... off out of the bar, this was for snowboarders only. Then i was told i was going to get my noise broken,,, nice people.
At this point the barman returned and we explained what had happened, he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away, i was gobbsmacked, my children were crying ,it was not a pleasant experience

My wife son and I have also just returned and like stu had no such problems although we did not visit the Happy Duck. I would like to think that this is not the norm. I hope the rest of your holiday was as enjoyable as ours!

John C,

Really, really sorry to hear of this. In all my years of visiting Pamporovo I can honestly say I have never witnessed behaviour like you describe. Bulgaria seems to have been fortunate not to attract the mindless idiots that cause such mayhem in the past.

As you mentioned, they were Australian Students, rather than Bulgarian or (thank God) British.

I am sure they are now home thinking what great guys they are, devoide of the upset they caused you.

But it is a sad fact of ...

But it is a sad fact of life that this behaviour can happen anywhere without warning now. Thank heavens that it is a very very isolated incident in Bulgaria.
