Hi Julie
We met at the Murgavets last Tuesday evening with Amanda.
We were surposed to return from Plovdiv on Sat and were taken to Sofia.
We sat on the plane for 2 or 3 hours beeing told we would go no where and then we did.
The fog lifted a bit and we took off.
Were you on the 'Thesaloniki' trip on the way out?
We were told at Gatwick that the coach journey would be 4 hours and it took 11.
Got there just in time to go skiing.
Happy days.
Diverted to Greece on the way out (Sat 12th), told 4-6 hours transfer and it took 11. Missed first day on the slopes because we didn't get there til after 10am - and if that wasn't bad enough, see avalanche's post above about the return journey!!!

Hi All!
Just back from a brill week in Pamps although the trip out there wasn't so great! We were delayed 3 hrs in Cork Airport and told that we would be flying to Thessaloniki instead of Plovdiv and then transferred by bus to Pamps which would take 2-3 hrs! When we arrived in Greece, rep at airport told us that the bus transfer would take 4 hrs, when we got on bus another rep told us that the trip would take 6 hrs but it actually took us 8.5 hrs to get to Pamps!
However we all agreed that we were glad we didn't know from the outset that the bus trip would take so long! The Crystal/Thomson reps were fantastic - they arranged to have the ski school stay open later for us to go and sort out our skis and lift passes etc and we even got an instructor to teach us for a couple of hours! So - no sleep was had on the Saturday night as we were travelling all night and then we didn't want to lose out on any 'ski-time' and so we kept going until we passed out peacefully at around 7.30pm on the Sunday night and we were all refreshed and ready for anything on the Monday morning. Our week was marvellous - we were in Pamps for the same week last year (on our first ever ski holiday) and the snow was practically non-existent - however the conditions this year were fantastic and we are now well and truly hooked! Cannot wait until next year - just another 357 sleeps or so to go!!! Our trip home was fine. Although Plovdiv was foggy and a lot of flights were cancelled our flight did take off just an hour late - thanks to the captain of BMI and Crystal! So, all in all even though the transfer on the way out was hell it certainly would not put us off going back to Pamps again!

Crikey!! Sounds as though quite a lot of you have had nightmare transfers adn flights to anf from Bulgaria. I can't say that I have ever experienced the kind of hassles that some of you have had other than a couple hours here and there.
Did you try and claim from the travel agents or insurance?
i am so sorry you all had a bad journey, the fog has been so bad, weather conditions have improved now, but the snow is melting fast, i think that it will snow again in two days. julie glad that you are back safely, the children ask about you especially your little favourite, 58 children in now x
Does anybody know what the drill is in this situation if you have a DIY trip - not with a tour operator. If we phone ahead and find out the flight is diverted will the airline bus us to the new departure point? We always hire our car from Sofia so we would have to return it to there.
