re:helmet camera?

We have used GoPro's since they were first introduced, the Hero most definitely is the best option of any of the cameras we have tested... We have 4 that we hire for skiing and for mtb... The lens, the low/high light sensitivity, the anti-shake software, and the general durability, make it the best performer by far.... Regarding Schumacher and his unfortunate accident, the jury is out on whether the mount caused the head injury, was it just a general failure of the helmet ? were the safety ...

Regarding Schumacher and his unfortunate accident, the jury is out on whether the mount caused the head injury, was it just a general failure of the helmet ? were the safety standards applied to ski helmets to the necessary levels ? However you look at it the number of accidents relating to camera mounts are miniscule... that said the option to mount said GoPro on a strap on the helmet is available, as are belted chest mounts.... Personally i ski off-piste with a chest mount, have knocked off to many cameras on my helmet with trees and falling..... it is though only the 5th year out of nearly 40 years that i have even worn a helmet ? Progress ? not sure, but it keeps my ears warm Wink

There is only speculation as to whether Schumis injury was made worse by the camera, its possible that his injury could have been just as life changing without it. The authorities investigating made many observations but couldn't state that the injury would not have been as serious without it, hitting rocks with the head will be serious wether a camera is mounted or not. For those that are concerned about this a chest mount is an alternative. As an aside I know a few skiers who wear a ...

As an aside I know a few skiers who wear a helmet as its an easy place to put the camera, if they didn't have the camera they didn't wear a helmet.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH DON , no official statement release to final cause , but lots of speculation.
Go Pro and several other camera and mount firms have extensively tested and tried various configurations .

Unless we had footage of the ACTUAL accident we shall never really know.
Been involved in motorsport for over 37 years my self , we have a saying when your number sup, its up , his wasn't , although not living a full ;life as he used to Shumi is alive , so him or her up stairs didn't ...

Been involved in motorsport for over 37 years my self , we have a saying when your number sup, its up , his wasn't , although not living a full ;life as he used to Shumi is alive , so him or her up stairs didn't want to take the legend away from us .

The helmet supplier , said from their investigation it look like several impacts , NO helmet be it pushbike, motorbike, race helmet or snow , can ever be fully designed to take multiple impacts, and in fact are designed when a hard impact is taken, the splitting of it , takes some of the energy away from the head , thus reducing a possible injury, but then a second impact at same area or near , can cause the actual injury .

ANYWAY in my opinion , life life to the full do what you want wear a helmet if you want , as we are dead a lot longer than we are alive
