It is up to you but it is the sensible thing to do as both myself and SP have learned from experience. It is not always about what you do but what others may do if they run in to you.

On my first trip to Borovets I bumped into the ski instructors that taught me back here in the UK a couple of weeks beforehand. Anyway I tagged along with them one day, and one of them, a very experienced skier, fell after a lot of thick powder had been carved up making it mogul-like, which was hidden under new fluffy stuff so you couldnt see the bumps. Myself and his mate, the other instructor, were shouting up to him for a few minutes and were just about to trek up the slope when he finally stirred. He'd blacked out. Wasn't even a bad fall. Luckily no lasting damage. Just goes to show you may be really experienced, enough so that you teach others, but you can still get caught out and fall. Not to mention the threat of others crashing into you without you seeing them coming. I always ride with a lid.
wot do you mean do you have are you old or just really stupid course you wear one then we dont all have to wait on the slope whilst they find all the bits of your skull jesus i despair at some peoples outlook for the safety

Despite that view, I choose to wear a helmet. Not in case I inconvenience anyone else but because thats what Ive decided I want to do. I have spent the last 10 years riding motorcycles listening to safety nazis telling me how dangerous it is etc and hearing how I should wear this or that - 'think of the people who have to scrape you up etc' and my reaction is always the same. Really gets to me when people impose their doctrine on others.
