The nursery slope at the top of the gondola is much better than the ones down by the Rila Hotel as the snow seems to be much thicker with less ice. The downside is the wind really whips accross the top. Our group found that fleece balaclavas, goggles and a hat were essential up there - but we only had one bloke in our group. the weather can change so quickly at the top of the mountain one minute sunny next minute not able to see low clouds and turn very cold, there is a nursery slope at the top of the gondola and one day last year it was minus 16-17 are instructer said that was the end of the sking once the low clouds descended.Best advice is you can always discard certain clothing if to hot.
