Sarah, I am currently in the Rila lobby, we've been here since Sat. - the DH, my daughter (4) and I. It's a great place for families, don't worry. Lots of "nightclubs" around but nothing outside them, it's just the signs you see - we haven't seen any prostitutes or anything of the kind, no beggars either but we do make it an early night most of the time. My daughter's having a blast, goes to ski school and enjoys herself, swimming in the afternoons. We're here self-catering in the Royal Plaza - great location, a big fully equipped studio, squeaky clean. We bought groceries in Samokov as it's literally twice as expensive here. Ate out a couple of times, Katy's for steaks, Mamacitas and the place next to it... forgot the name Smile)
Now all we need is a bit more snow Smile

Been going to Boro since the kids were babies and have never had any trouble. It's quite compact so easy to meet up and most restaurants/bars welcome children.

Have a great time Very Happy

I refer to my previous, it is not in your face and in reality prostitution is in every town in the uk, but do you look for it? so you know where it is, it doesnt mean it is ripe, in 6 years 1 approach is not what anyone will class as a major problem, where there are tourists and they spend money there will be someone trying to make money through prostitution, yes it is suitable for families and you can be assured you will have a great time, so dont worry,

re: is borovets ok for a family hols?

Thank you Daniel! Thanks to all the really helpful posts. I'm going to give Boro a go! As a 1st time skier, i started to research resorts and the add on prices are so high in the Alps, i'e lift passes etc. Also with the pound to euro rates, it makes for a v expensive hols, not so in Boro'!

Off to start ski fitness this w/e!

Hope you all have a great ski season, Sarah x
