Buy some impact shorts if it's your first time, I have been boarding for 3 years now and that's the best advice you can get, it is so so painful if you fracture your coccyx. But it will be the best fun you have ever had on holiday.

I can vouch for the coccyx thing... albeit that I did it jumping onto a chair.. (yeah! a CHAIR!).. couldn't sit down for a week and the doc signed me off work for 2 months (yeah right - with MY boss??? ) Mel.. I think you asked a pertinent question, its normal to wonder what the crime rate is wherever you go. On holiday your defences are down because you think its different from home.. Just be sensible and take care of yourself, you'll have a great time.

I think aslong as you're sensible. Don't carry unnecessary valuables. We used walky talkies last year instead of mobile phones. If you're in the town (Samocov) or go into the city (Sofia) you must keep an eye on your bag. Wear one to the front and keep nothing in easily accessible pockets. My friends mothers bag was slashed open, she never even noticed until she was back in her hotel.

Other than that, the slopes seem pretty safe. Now what was this about BEARS?!
