Is it best to take uk cash and change it, or change it into levs before you go ?

when we went at crimbo we took £250 in Levs, loads of sterling and hole in the wall card.

To be honest, take a little amount of lev with you for the first few days, then either take sterling (good clean notes) or use the ATM's - get a good rate from those too.

We will be taking Sterling (GBP) and converting out in Bulgaria... also taking the maestro/cirrus card too

It is finding the time to find Lev's in the UK... the Bank I have an account with and work for, do not supply Bulgarian Lev, neither does First Direct - which I assume means the whole HSBC group

I was offered them at the time from Going Places, maybe should have got some but was warned then "We only have limited and that's very limited supply"

Had no probs at all via Lunn Poly - all commision free too. Just needed to give them 48 hrs notice to get them. I bank with HSBC, but didn't even ask them.

Did you book through LunnPoly??? Is that why they supplied you the currency???

Also I am sure with Sterling been hard currency, Bulgarians would not turn it away as a form of payment

Didn't book it with them - arranged it via a telephone based agent I know, but did use the biggest LunnPoly I have ever seen in a new shopping centre near us.

£ are no problem either, just wanted to have a few lev to start with

To be honest, I would have felt happier with some Leva to be there so that the first thing we did not do when we arrived at Bansko was look for the currency exchange.

We leave the UK at 10:20am so we will have plenty of exploration time on Saturday evening

Loads a time bud, all the hotels will change some anyway, even if the rate isn't great, it's only a couple of quid difference between £100 @ 2.8 lev and £100 @ 2.6 lev. Not worth worrying about.
