re: never again too

Hey, you can go to Vegas one of the richest cities in the world an get propositioned on every corner all day long even in front of kids, so its not about the place being poor its just the oldest trade in the world, just smile and say no thanks and they leave you alone, at the end of the day the tourists are the demand and thier the supply.

hi,
i'd just like to say YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

I'm goin to borovets i a few weeks and it did cost me much at all, i've never been snowboarding before but i'm not expecting a 5* resort with all the same things you'd find at a top french resort. However i am goin with an open mind and am planning to have a wicked time.

Paul.

hi people,
just to add my 2 cents, I am actually Bulgarian, I remember Bansko 15 years ago when it was just a small resort for students and Borovets had one big hotel. it was fantastic, we were young, free.. Problem is that the place started developing like couple of years ago, it was cheap (meaning not sufficient funds to invest in infrastructure for example), people not good at doing the turist business (no towels, toilet paper etc). Problem is that the place started developing like couple of years ago, it was cheap (meaning not sufficient funds to invest in infrastructure for example), people not good at doing the turist business (no towels, toilet paper etc). It just takes time to get things done, people trained, service improved. Well, we will be missing then those early days, with the mechanas, the native Bansko people; hotels will be nice, towels, etc but the spirit will be all gone. And that is the most valuable asset of the Bulgarian places but only if you want to see it. All inclusive SPA is not a Bullgarian patent. In Bulgaria you should just relax, drink, eat, dance, and not give a damn. You could also try and make friends with the locals, they will love you for that and show you around. Language barrier is the only problem. After all we were preparing for the Russian-dominated bright future, you know Smile I am sorry that you did not like it. Dont lock the door though, maybe you will be willing to check it out again some time in the future.... Remember, we are new to this, we dont know you, your expectations, but we will get it, eventually Smile

We are completely for Bansko, I loved the charm, the smell of the wood burning from the houses, the pot holes in the roads, the pancakes in the streets for 50p, beers for less than a quid and the skiing is fantastic. We totally feel that we did not miss out on the skiing, been to austria and france and it is no differnt, actually quieter. The added bonus was the 10 km ski road from top to bottom, wow! We have no doubts we will be back.
I think another thing people seem to forget is Bulagaria's history and how hard these people are trying to get the place working again.
We can't wait to take our kids next time and show them a bit of real life not just a swanky ski resort.

Long live Bulgaria.

Hi to all Bulgaria lovers and not so lovers!

I skiied in Val D`siere two years ago and stayed in the worst hotel EVER!. This place really sucked - small, no really small - smells, noise, no view, worn out bed, no hot water, very little sleep, ect ect. and EXPENSIVE!, 6 hour transfer because of holiday traffic ! there were even long ques on the lifts and we also lost a couple of days due to weather conditions the list goes on...

this was a last minute booking so we paid top dollar and my wife was ill during the weeks break as well!

It did spoil the holiday and left us feeling completely knackered and a bit dissolusioned with French Skiing, but I do understand that our experience was a "one off" and know that there are loads of happy skiiers in France who keep going back year on year and that we will certainly ski there again.

I have skiied the last three seasons in Bansko and have never experinced anytning like i did in france.

Steve, if you want to give Bansko a try, and I really think you should, PM me. I have a large, new, high quality apartment which I will rent out at 50% of the advertised rate for next season for you and you family. I am confident that you will LOVE Bansko!

Just imagine a holiday company being that understanding.
