Hi guys wonder if you can help im in Borovets now with my partner my first time skiing im not the best at it so I wanted to know if there is anything else here to do instead if skiing at the moment my partner is out skiing everyday and im on my own sightly bored!!! Any ideas would be great!!!!
Glad Max is enjoying it, just a shame you're not!! You could go for a skidoo ride or walk to the Kings castle - straught up the road from Samokov hotel and eventually you will get to it. You could take a ride on the gondola and have a coffee at the top and either gondola down or walk down Mussala path - although with recent snowfall you will need good walking boots!!

Have you thought about trying a snowboard lesson if you don't like skiing. You could try a 2hr one and see how you go???
There is also another walk to Black Rock - quite interesting history and is where they threw everyone off that wouldn't conform to communism...
Also what about a spa day? There are good facilities at the Yanakiev.
Another couple of trips you could do are into Sofia and go shopping(!) or you could take a taxi to Saparevo Banja - an outdoor spa complex where al the water is froml natural mineral springs!
It's such a lovely day today you could just take a book and sit at one of the restaurants in the sun!!
Lastly, you could always come and sit in our bar and chat to the staff and chill out!
Whatever you do, try and enjoy and send me an email if you need any help - Max has my email details.

re: other than skiing!!!!
it doesn't matter how good you are.there is no reason to be on your own.their are plenty of good ski schools and instructors there to cater for all levels.you'd be amazed how many first timers their are out there .give it a go! it can be painful,it can be frustrating, but most of all it can be FUN. SKI ,SKI ,SKI, otherwise its a lot of drinking and reading .steve.g
I've been to Borovets 4 times now, and every time I have intended to take a day trip to the Rila Monastery. Several hotels seem to offer this trip, some as a half day option. At the Samokov Hotel they told me the full day trip includes lunch which is the only difference.
It is meant to be absolutely beautiful, with ancient frescoes, many manuscripts and works of art,and stunning architecture in a mountain setting. It is a World Heritage site.
Google it for more information, and I ...

Google it for more information, and I noticed the other day it has a 5 star rating on tripadvisor.
Must make the effort to go and see it myself in 3 weeks time!
PS If you go, please post back to let me know what you think.
Thanks steve, im gonna go out with my partner this afternoon to c if we can get me some confidence and some fun!!!! Thanks for the encouraging words!!
I did try beginners lessons but from the start everyone was way ahead of me as they took lessons in the snowdome in the uk so they were alot more advanced than me.
Hi julia, I will try to do some excursion and I will definately let you know how they are!!!
Hi Kerry,
I went to Boro with my Husband 5 years ago and although i had skied as a teenager, he had never skied, after the second day he was ready to give up but persevered after the lesson. Now he is the one dragging me of to Boro twice a year and he's skiing all the hours he can, he just can't get enough of it. I do understand that its not for everyone but see if you can get yourself some one to one tuition, we did it for our daughter (23) last year and within 2 hours hour confidence had ...

Whatever you decide there is plenty of alternative activities and I agree with Kas, you can get yourself some nice spa treatments at a fraction of what it would cost in the UK.
Most of all enjoy your time away from the rat race.

by the way,it takes about 4hrs to walk the mussala path.but only 20mins to ski. steve ,g ps.you could always take a private lesson with someone like laura from the white majic to build up your confidence.its like learning to drive,it takes time and an individual instructor gives you that at your own pace.it took me awhile to learn and i'm still learning.i still go out with christo for a couple of hours when i can afford it.but when you nail a run at pace, when you do the best that you can do ...

i have got to agree with Kas on this one ,i can talk from first hand experience,i had problem with my skis last season at the start of the mussalla pathway,so only choice i had was to walk down, done it in less than two hours carrying skis and a belly lol, lovely scenery also, the beer at the end was worth it,Paul
