popularity of Pamporovo

Hi Guys ,nice to be back and reading about the coming ski season again. I have just spent 5 days in the village of Momchilovtsi [ just outside Pamporovo ] and had a great time chilling out. Went to Pamps and the snowboardpark above Momchil and suprisingly found the left over snowdrifts from the downfalls last week. I normally manage to get out there a couple times a year, havent been out there since last Feb but am always taken back by how friendly the locals are . Mind you they say that the ...
Mind you they say that the Rhodopi region is known for its friendliness . The reason mainly for this posting is to find out if anybody knows wether accomodation bookings are up or down in and around the Pamps ski resort ? I know money is a bit tighter this year but us ski freaks always manage to find the wonga somehow dont we . I've had a Guest house doing bed & breakfast in the village for the last 5 years and thot maybe that maybe this year might even be a bit busier this year due to the Euro making France ,Italy etc being the more expensive option .BUT,,,its not happening yet ,bookings are well down.
Just putting the "feelers" out. Any ideas ??? Nigel.

Bookings for the Christmas/New Year and into January are slow, not only here in Bansko but reportedly in Borovets as well. The poor snow in previous seasons are making people a little wary, perhaps with a cold November and early snow they will pick-up.
February is rammed, as is most of March, and now a lot of inquiries for Easter in April... Great deals at the moment for Christmas/New Year, perhaps some will take a punt ? Wink

Gatwick - Sofia (rtn) for Xmas week with easyjet is about 250 pounds each. There wont be a last minute dash on the DIY front.

February half term is pretty full now but otherwise it is certainly quieter than previous years. The budget airlines around school hols are not cheap anymore but if not restricted to school hols there are some bargains to be had. Bookings appear to be down generally from speaking to the ski schools.

Thanks for the feedback guys . How do you rate advertising on Holiday Lettings ? I have the last couple of years advertised with them and had a few enquiries and a couple of bookings but have been told they dont seem to perform very well nowadays . Any ideas anybody ????

I would say its worth trying http://www.skipad.co.uk - a new company advertising ski properties with free adverts for the first few months and then reasonable fee after that. Not tried holiday lettings. Also http://www.bulgariaapartments.bg/ - as they are offering free adverts for life for the first 100 apartment owners to sign up.

It's such a shame we can't get lots more people over to Pamporovo, it's so sunny most of the winter (when it isn't snowing), and so beautiful. Plovdiv airport is so close and convenient and with people doing airport transfers and others offering superb accommodation, not only apartments but also B&B's, they should be flocking here in droves.
I know where I'll be!

I think there could be some movement in Pamporovo/Chepalare, after years of stagnation, rumours of bids on Europa Cup events and investment in infrastructure... Basically being the wife of the Premier has its benefits, and permissions and cash seem readily available.
There is no denying that Pamps is beautiful, but it also a fact that it is the most southerly, and the lowest of the main resorts, the snow record also being about the poorest. Hopefully with investment in infrastructure, ...

There is no denying that Pamps is beautiful, but it also a fact that it is the most southerly, and the lowest of the main resorts, the snow record also being about the poorest. Hopefully with investment in infrastructure, promotion, and a combined forward plan, Pamporovo can start to benefit from the increasing number of ski tourists deciding that Bulgaria is a viable destination offering great value, combined with modern accommodation and systems...
