re: Currency-Exchange

Hi

Im heading for Pamporovo on the 28th! It will be my first ime in bulgaria so does any one have any pointers about exchanging GBP into BGL? Do they accept pounds over there like Turkey do? And is it true you cannot take BGL out of Bulgaria? Any feedback would be greatful! John

re: Currency-Exchange

John,
I've changed your posting as you put a / in the heading.

It will not read if you do this.

Take Sterling as the prefered exchange currency, but ensure all notes are not written on or torn as these will not be accepted. Cash points are in all resorts and will acept all major cards.

Change your money at your hotel reception or major banks. Never change money with strangers no matter what rate they offer as you stand a high chance of being given worthless currency in exchange ...

re: Currency-Exchange

No need to. Take about £50 worth of Levs to get you over the first day or so, then change it as and when.

Cash points are in all the big hotels and the exchange rate is as good as anywhere.

Not this year John. First time in 13 years.

Off to America skiing on Wednesday, but I'll be back in Pamporovo for 2007.

re: Currency-Exchange

There is an ATM at Sofia Airport, in the bar handily, and you get as good an exchange rate from ATMs as you do from anywhere else.

re: Currency-Exchange

Just back from Pamps - get 2.75 in resort against 2.4-6 at home - change it there!

Had some problems with cash points - only one that worked was the one in Mougavets Hotel.

re: Currency-Exchange

So would it defo be recommended to change it over there?

Also the question hasn't been answered that I can see - is it true that you cannot take Levs out of Bulgaria.

I worry about chaning money abroad personally so would love reassurance.
