I find that most accidents are caused by inexperienced skiers/and/boarders not looking over their shoulders while changing directions....tunnelvision is deadly! That problem coupled with the inability to stop without falling over causes most accidents. I'm not denying that silly buggers going to qucikly thru groups often clip and cause accidents but this is a small part of the problem.

Now this may seem a bit silly but it may work....if new drivers use L plates on their cars why don't ski instructors place L vests on the learners?!? That way all the better skiers/boarders can see that a wobbly person sliding down the slopes wearing an L vest is someone to stay clear of.

Re: Helmets. Boarders are probably the most at risk for head injuries hence the need for learners to wear them (should be compulsory in my view if hiring from the resort). Skiers tend to fall of their sides from slide-outs which reduces the need for helmets on most.

Would not like to say as to advocate it. Give every resort a chance I say. However it involves the ski going under rather than over the end of your board. They are moving, you are not, so the problems theirs. All they are worried about at that point is getting there leg out the way. You will end up on your backside but you probably would anyway, and hurting. This was adopted after a girl boarder got hurt by one of them!

What I will say is stick to the rules and fingers crossed you will not have to deal with such idiots! Live and let live. Most places will have like a basic guide like you must avoid if coming from behind, what to do in the event of an accident etc.

I will say most other resorts have been generally great. I think this one was particlarly daft! From what I gather off this site Boro seems not to be like that place.
