No you cannot walk to Sofia from Borovets. Samokov town is 10 minutes by bus or car. It would take you an hour or two to walk and in snow probably longer.

If you like shopping,...maybe you can go for 1 day to the centre of Sofia @ Vitocha boulevard the main shopping roard, nearby ther is also a huge shopping centre.
