re: ski hire help

Problem with Method is they charge you much more than you would pay a Bulgarian. Confused

Carla as you have not been before I would just have a shop around on the way to the Gondala or use the Ulen at the Gondala. I use a little shop near the Gondala that has very good equipment. Last shop on the left before cross roads as you face the Gondala away from town.

re: ski hire help

I recomend Bansko sports to hire ski gear. My sister and friends have all used them, initiallly as they are the cheapest but we have used them for three yaers now and they are very helpful to everybody.

This year they are in a Tent , From town turn right at the lights. There is a short cut up to the gondola right opposite

re: ski hire help

Daniel, Method charge more for their snowboard gear and lessons because they are so much superior to any Bulgarian company in Bansko Very Happy

re: ski hire help

Carla,

Ive posted an answer a couple of times but they get taken off, but here goes again.

There are some very good places to rent ski hire dotted around the streets near the gondola. A particularily good one is next door to the Happy End pub which is opposite the gondola. Their equipment is good but you can't get lessons or lift passes there.

In our experience the easiest way to do it, especially on the first occasion is to get everything from the gondola.

Youre going to need ski equipment, lessons and passes for the lifts.

Sunday morning will be busy with all the package people getting their skis from their reps. They normally start at about 0900.
There are two hire shops in the gondola station and they open at 0830. Get there then to avoid the rush.

Sort out the hire and then within the same building is Ulen ski school. For starters take out the 6 day lessons. With the snow you will have and the good quality instructors you will be skiing up top by the end of the week.

Then you will need to buy your lift passes. You will all need to be together for this bit as they need to take your photos for the passes.

There is a ski rack outside the Ulen office where you can leave your gear while you sort out the passes.

The ski school definately doesnt take credit cards, they want cash. The ski hire does take cards but it never seems to work and in the end ask for cash. The passes can be paid for with a card. So make sure you have enough levs for at least the hire and lessons.

There is a bank machine at the gondola but its quite unreliable. There is also an exchange point but it doesnt offer the best rates.

Do the three things in this order because the biggest pain and potential hold up is always the hire shop, the rest is simple. You do get a discount for getting all three in the gondola, make sure you ask for it.

Get there early and plan it a bit and you will be fine. The subsequent days will be a doddle.
