ski holiday extras .com

Has anybody used this company before, any experiences good or bad? If anybody has experience using them in Borovets or BG in general I would like to hear.
Many Thanks

Mark

Hi ya,

They are fine. we always suggest to people to buy their lift-passes through them if they don't need a full package. We don't suggest people get the full package / equipment through them simply becuase they use the same ski school as the package operators and there are the usual horror stories about poor equipment and over-sized classes....there are also no plans to invest in new equipment this season either - saying that, you never know and things may change and they may make some ...

For passes you cannot go wrong... It's really whether it comes down to saving money or better quality - lots of people go for a 'great deal', but then come out and complain (fairly) about the poor quality so it's really an individual choice!

S.P....Thanks for the tomatoes....nice touch....not!!!!

I would use them if I was you as I know you guys only need passes. If you use a package operator, which I think you do(?) then you can probably get the same price anyway. They normally have the pass-only prices available just before the winter and as long as you get them a couple of weeks before they are still the same price which means you can keep an eye on the snow. Last year, in the resort, they were around 135euros, on the site ...

Have a fab holiday....if we'd have known you had holiday leave in September we would have saved the tomatoes and got you to come to Samokov instead....!!

Thanks Kas.

I had a look on the site and the packages seem to be the Borosport ones from the Rila however the passes do seem very good value based on my experiences. You are also correct in that the prices do look very close to Inghams (package) prices.

I think my concern was laying out £800 odd for lift passes them doing a runner and getting nothing in return.

I need to book some packages as well and need a ski school for my 5 year old so would be happy for you to send me details ...

Hi ya,

You're right about the packages and who they are with. I don't now anyone that has ever had a problem with passes etc though in terms of not getting them once they have paid their money. I think from recollection, they provide you with a voucher and when you get here you go and redeem it for you pass etc. I also know people who got passes for france on the same site and again, had no problem.

I'll send you some of the info later with the discounts that Bobby can get but as per ...

as the day wore on my body was killing me day 2 my atimic ski's left the room with me but the damage was done.

So this year we are booking our ski package separatly and we will be taking our own ski's as well.

The service was not the best my wife is only 4ft 11 and asked for a 140-145 ski and was handed a 130 well he was told to change it and he did but i was not impressed.

We had similar experience with the ski school as well but this has not put us off going back as we enjoyed every thing else borovets has to offer.

Hi Alan

Horror story by the sounds of it but who exactly is your gripe with?

I think wherever you go skiing and are using hire equipment, if you are not happy with it when it is handed to you give it straight back or if after the 1st day you are not happy then give it back and ask for it to be replaced. If you don't get on with your instructor then ask to be moved to another class.

I am not sure that your issue is with Holiday extras. com

I also think that if your wife is only 150cm tall and a beginner tall then 140/145cm skiis would be too long for her and 130cm closer to what she needed.

For sure if you are going back to Borovets again and booking equipment yourselves, you may get a better quality (if you seek it out) however you may not get a better service. You may also find that for top of the range brand new skiis, you may pay 50 euro to hire which is not a lot less than you paid for your skiis. You may as well use your skiis.

Hi Mark

sorry should have made parts much clearer main gripe the quality of the ski's in my opinion wave very poor indeed, some ski's i witnessed handed out had parts of the top sheet of the ski missing.

No issue with Holiday extra infact just waiting for a reply with the price of the lift pass for our second week, if it is a better price than Balkan £115.00 then will be booking with them.

We both had a number of lessons on Dry slope and indoor skii complex before we went to Borovets and we took the advice of our instructor in the uk advised that my wife used around 140-145cm ski.

Ski's after day 1 told them at ski hire about the ski's and all i got was a shrug of shoulders and then used my own for the rest of the week, my wife's ski's we not too bad but could have done with a service but it must be difficult to service the amount of ski's that borosport must have.

Because we had ski lessons back home we were not classed as beginners but our instuctor was more interested in the people in the group that were of a much high level, in my opinion an instuctor should be instructing to all levels in the group.

we will be booking ski and lessons with another provider next year and I am confident that our experience will be much higher, as i said we still enjoyed the holiday and we are looking forward to March 2012.
