Hi Alan
I've never been on a dry slope but have been skiing now for a number of years. I do think that your wife needs shorter skis. I've done 9 years on the trot in Borovets and have used the Rila a few times. It is fair to say the the equipment can be in a poor state (it is used a lot) but if you do ever find yourself there again they will swap the equipment if asked and also they have a service place just to the left of the Gondola. They wont take them there but if you ask them they will send you down there and you can get your skis serviced possibly for free. And hey, the shrug of the shoulders is quite common especially if you are asking for something that they may not agree with. You will notice that you get the smile on the Friday afternoon when the tip pot is on show.
For the past couple of years I have hired independently and have hired brand new skis but have been getting the lift pass off the travel company as it was cheaper. Next year is the 1st time that I have booked the whole lot independently.
I get what you say about the lessons but they do try to group people at similar levels so if you find the same again, just ask to move into a different class. It's the same both ways in so much as the good skiers don't want to be standing around waiting for those that can't ski so well. But it's like all places you get some good instructors and you get some bad ones. You may also find that as most of your skiing has been dry, let the instructor know as it may be worth your while taking a backward step to go further.

Hi Mark
yes we saw the tippot being rattled.
Dry slope your not missing much I did most of my leaning on one and then when it snowed skiied on the snow, mostly though have been going to indoor ski centres.
After going to Bulgaria in March we then went to Tamworth and then to Langraft in Holand we then went to the local dry slope well! you would have thought that I had never had a pair of ski's on my feet.

I had a bad fall and damaged my knee (more than it was already damaged) and have not skied on a dry slope since just on atrificial snow.
With regards to the lift pass don't think will get it much cheaper than the tour operator will see over the coming weeks .
And we are confident that we have the right ski package deal this time,
