Is it customary to tip the instructor at the end of the course, and if so what is a reasonable amount in order to avoid being embarassed?Any other protocols we should be aware of that will be useful

there was 10 of us in our group and we gave ours £10 in english money as thats what they like to have. Hope this helps you.Neil

Hope that was each not all together. A quid for a weeks excellent tuition ain't exactly going OTT is it?We usually give ours 20 lev each so 10 people would equate to approx. 70 quid.
But it's your choice.

We did the same as pamps pete, 20 lev each. However some friends of ours had a rubbish instructor who totally knocked any confidence the group had developed. He would have rather shown them round churches and museums than take them on the slopes when conditions got a little difficult, needless to say they just got him a couple of drinks at the presentation evening.Tracy x

First time I was in learn to ski we got our suoerb instructor a pub size bottle of whisky. He was impressed!re: ski instructor tipping
Our group (8 of us) gave our instructor £10 each, he was absolutely brilliant. The Thomson/Crystal reps tried to tell everyone that 5 Lev was good enough, but after a week of tuition plus all the info on local haunts, the laughter, the video he took and the nights he joined us in the restuarants it would have been mean. Besides when you consider what the instructors are actually paid..... we were spending more on an evening meal and drinks for our group each night. On the whole the ...

On the whole the instructors do a wonderful job and I would not begrudge a £10 tip. I don't think it was even 10% for what George Rangelov put into our holiday

i feel dead guilty, we didnt tip our instructorbest make up for it in March

If your kids are using the kindergartens, especially the Inghams one, then don't forget their ski instructor(s) also. It wasn't until we got home and watched the video of them that we realised just how much time was spent making our kids holiday so much fun. We felt gutted as we had left them out.Won't make the same mistake again.
