There is a law in Bulgria that has recently been introduced that stipulates that foreigners must be charged the same as locals, but as is normal with most laws it is not enforced and the Police take backhanders from the companies involved to turn a blind eye.
My guess is that about 75 % of all guests in the ski resorts are British, 15 % Dutch, German or any other european nationality and 10 % Bulgarians. The averge income in Bulgaria is around 200 lv. or 100 Euro per month.
I guess that Bulgarians feel ripped of by tourist who blow in one week as much money away as they earn in 6 months, treat people with zero respect and then start whining about beeing „ripped of“ by Mafia.

having read all the stuff about ski passes being more expencive on arrival i tried to pre book passes for my mates and I but it turns out the tour operator (Balakan Holidays) needs at least 7 days waring to be able to do it and were leaving in 4 days!
Does any one know if theres any other way to buy a ski pass from the UK before leaving or where the cheapest place would be to get one in Borovets? Were all on a pritty tight budget and wasnt expecting this last min surprise.. Does ...
