sofia to bansko

we are going to bulgaria for the first time in dec; we are 2 adults and one 11yr old. Could anyone recommend how we should travel from the airport to bansko and how much we should expect to pay.
Many thanks
Millie

re: sofia to bansko

If your travelling on your own, ask your hotel if they can arrange transfers, I'm going with me dad in Feb and the Hotel Avalon have arranged it for €120 return (taking about 2 1/2 hours)

120 Euros return is well steep! That's more than a schoolteacher makes in a month!!!

do you know what you might expect to pay in a taxi from the airport? - it is a very long way! I am presuming that there isn't a public transport link?

I take it you're not going 'til after the 17th.

I'm not based in Sofia, but I will be visiting within 2 weeks - I'll try to find out how much the journey will cost you via cab. There is a reputable company there I can ask. Public transport can be very confusing and probably not what you'll want to mess around with after a flight with a child.

When I find out I will post again.

As far as I see you have 2 options. Take a taxi, most at the airport are honest, however, you may need two taxis depending on how much luggage you have.

Second option is approaching one of the reps from the tour companies meeting their clients. I am sure they would happily put you on one of their coach's for a small fee. They will however drop you off at one of their hotels rather than an apartment.

In my opinion, it's alot of hassle travelling independently in Bulgaria.
