sofia

Hi guys,

Just come back from bulgaria on a nice ski trip but I was disgusted by Sofia. Was anyone else?

I cannot see how Bulgaria should be allowed to join the EU with housing of that nature.it reminds me of stories my grandad told me about eastern europe.

re: sofia

Do you mean the ugly flats in the OUTSKIRTS?They were built in communism, many people still live there. What do YOU suggest?Ruin them? Are you going to pay for building new homes?
I like the center of Sofia, though.

re: sofia

Not at all

Its just that we as a family did not realize people in europe still lived in those conditions.

re: sofia

I see what you are getting at. Hopefully then them entering the EU will bring increased investment and funding to assist the rebuilding programme that has been ongoing since the fall of communism.

re: sofia

comunism....people have no choice my friend. i am from the beautiful city of Burgas, but i live and study in sofia for five years...in the student's city....the housing in the outskirts of sofia is like piece of heaven compared to what i am living nowSmile small advice to you: stop watching cnn and bbc and open your mind...you will see even more truth about the world you live in! Booze

re: sofia

My eyes are open. I agree the housing isn't great in Sofia but its the same in London in some places albeit not so extreme. My point was to say that because of 2007 there is more investment and investment will invariably bring better housing which was a point that Jim raised and made me comment. The new runway at Sofia and the road to the black sea will change the region. I've been to Bulgaria many many times and would move there in a second if I could!!

I agree. To be honest I'm investigatng it now. Resigned from work on Tuesday, have 8 weeks notice, take time out, then investigate getting a C Class Visa from the Bulgarian Embassy. 31, single, home owner, love Bulgaria..... yeah, why not!!

Cheers Jim!!
