The major benefit of Boro is the ability to return easily to the town for lunch (not so easy in Bansko) and in that you are not ripped off blind for lunch on the mountain. There is no reason why a decent lunch should cost more than 15lv, drinks coming in around 3.5lv (alcoholic and soft.. why drink soft ?) There are bars on the mountain but expect to pay a premium.. apart from maybe 'George's' (dunno if Kas and Bobby have anything up there this season ?)
Coming at the end of Jan will maybe give you better snow, but it is also considered perhaps one of the coldest times, and it can be bitter, especially on the mountain, wrap up (or at least come prepared)... the locals are forecasting a lot of snow from beginning of January (we'll see ;-) ) so fingers crossed you should have a ball..... the advice i give to visitors coming for the first time.. "the more you drink, the more you save" it's not unknown for guys to go home with more money than they came with
Is euro accepted? Got about 120 euros left over from my last trip and seems silly not to take them if I can use them. Also what is shopping like in the resort for ski wear/ equipment.?
Should be ok with your spare euros in Crown Booth or good shops. Regards shopping ski wear/equipment. Get Bobby (Bobbys Bar) to take you to ski shop in Samakov Hotel great discounts. Even Manc Tom managed to find the bottom of his deep pockets to buy skis for himself and wife.

re:spending money...
Yesterday in Samokov it was 2.48 Leva to the £.
That's using the Exchange Bureau opposite Bonita’s.
They are very good, what it says on the board is what you get.
