on the subject of sking ,the daily mail are holding a ski and snowboard exibition at olympia on the 16 to the 21st of october ,might be handy for some cheap ski gear,or just for the shows , gary
Well I got my first Ski Mag of the year yesterday - The Daily Mail Ski magazine which incidentally has a 2 for 1 offer for the Ski Show.
I used to like going but that was pre-child! I always remember it being crowded and heaving so not good with a lively 6 yr old who would not doubt get very bored. Anyway I have all the gear I need now so will prob give it a miss but might have a nose at our little local one we have down here.
Yes the Daily Mail ski mag always has 2 for 1 and with working in London I could easily go but don't think I shall bother. One of my ski suits was bought there also both of our bags but not impressed with the show in general any more.
went last year to the show and thought it was poor. could find the same stuff on the internet for the same price or a bit cheaper plus you didn't hav eto lugg it around the show or most of londen.
did treat myself to new pair of qucksiler gortex gloves only 9.99 pluf a jackets 45 both from TK maxx, total bargins

I am a fan of snow and rock, not because they are the cheapest, but because of the service. Go mid week if you can and if youre buying boots you will end up with a pair that suit you not the salesperson. Best thing i ever did, last year ( and ive skied a few times) took my boots along and said what would they suggest, instead of trying to flog new boots they said the ones i had were good but fitted me with inserts, moulded to my foot shape, no kidding it was like having new boots , and ...

Ive said it before, if there is one thing spending youre money on its boots, get it right and you will be the next 'Tomba', ( well maybe not, but you will have a very comfortable time) talking of time, a good fitting will prob take a couple of hours, and youre not going to get that at the ski show. I too was a bit disappointed last year, will go this year but thats just cause im a nosey git
Thanks for the advice. I have to admit that whenever I have seeked advice from snow & rock they have always come across as having a wealth of knowledge that makes sense rather than your typical "salesman" talk.
I am taking the plunge and looking to buy new ski's and boots, poles, bag etc this season and can do with the expert advice and, hopefully, save a few quid at the same time.
