a year later i had an incident where i posted on a picture of the outside of the hotel.. i had already some months before associated myself with the property so received got a fraud warning email because i wasnt allowed to post. the email threatened this and that blah blah. it was only one photo but they dumped the advert from number 12 down to number 32!!!!! after emailing them they said nothing could be done about the punishment but so few hotels bother with reviews just go out there and get some, you will be surprised.
so we handed out review requests to all our guests with leaflets or emails. hoping it wouldn't go tits up with bad ones.
anyway after 10 reviews we were number 7 and it simply grew because people are more likely to add comments where many others have also, so they dont stand out alone (my theory anyway)
i simply think the review sites can sinply never be ignored. worked for us,, maybe got lucky and on an up but probably go back down again but its fun trying
