I have just been told that Method ski school dont have enough people to run a group skiing lesson and so I have had to cancel and was wondering if anyone knows if it would be ok to book up with Ulen ski school when I turn up and how much it would cost for the week?
I will be arriving on the 20th of Feb and cant wait.
Sean,
Have you had a problem with the Ulen Ski school?
I have used them since 2005 and not had a problem, this year was the best so far, excellent instructor (Plamen) with good english and fantastic sense of humour, for the price I think it was excellent, maybee I have just been lucky!!
The first time i went i learned more from my dad in 5 mins than i did from the ulen ski school after two days of lessons, the group was far to big. Last year we found a place that did rentals and one on one/two lessons very cheaply, can't remember the name but it's got wooden flooring and is next to the stairs going up to the car park.
Nope Don, we too have been very 'lucky' with our Ulen snowboard instructors, granted they don't do much more than show us the best ways into the woods and untracked areas near pistes, along with a few reminders to correct us but each time. We are so impressed with the standard for very little money, as they earn 35 Lev per day I don't know how they stay so cheerful.
We always have a whip round for the instructor, it normally doubles their wage for the week, have been lucky with group sizes, this time were in fairly advanced group carving etc and started with 9 on Sunday, by Friday we were down to 4-6 most afternoons, so far better instruction, as you highlight I think I have been "lucky". Have heard stories of disinterested instructors but very few.

I think our instructor was of the opinion that although the pay was relatively poor, the ski pass enabled him access to ski before and after ski school and also free clothing and Ski rental. And of course the free lunch probably helps a little.
