varying opinions of bulgaria...

having read numerous reports on this site about people's opinions of bulgaria, it never ceases to amaze me how people obviously do not do their research before visiting a country! there are a few comments making reference to the fact that bulgaria is nothing like your Frances and Austrias etc.... der, of course it is nothing like them. whoever claimed it was? what it is tho, is a friendly struggling country, that welcomes you with open arms and does its best to make skiing conditions as ...

i felt i could attempt my skiing in bulgaria with ease. my first skiing experience was in France and it was awful. the boots were agony, the instructor bossy - i was embarrassed to put the skiis on, as the cocky professional skiiers almost sneered at my feeble attempts at skiing. however in bulgaria - everyone seemed encouraging - and i flourished!

if you are going out to bulgaria - or plan to next year, please go with an open mind... remember it is a country that is not as well off as others.... but puts more effort in than all of them put together...

enjoy

Exactly right, Jax. Most people I met over there went for the same reason - price. Having skiied in Switzerland as well Bulgaria is definately more relaxed, there are definately fewer posers - but there is great snow, great scenery, good hotels and a country that is definately welcoming.

I agree. Myself and quite a few others in our group (of 49!) are returning for our third year to Bulgaria. As quite a large group, WE have never encountered any problems that would have ruined the holiday. As Jax says Bulgaria is a welcoming Country and its people do their best to make you feel welcome. The skiing is great fun, for all levels, but as with any ski resort you take a chance with the weather, especially in our ever changing climate! Open-mindedness is definatley the key!

Thank you for your comment. Many people don't realize that most Bulgarians dislike snobs, and that's why we DON'T want to immitate Switz,Fr,Sp,Austria.
As we say ,there is a passenger for every train. Wink
