Well if we get back to the subject the ideal ski diet at Bansko
is a small cereal breakfast and a small lunch, then blitz it at a mehana. One cheap one is down the road from the monument in the town centre and is on the left. might of changed after last easter though. On the slopes the pizza place attatched to the three tuns/barrels on the Bunderishka
meadow is good.
Each to his own James - but I prefer a hearty breakfast and a light lunch. Followed by a nice 3 course evening roast and a little Rakia to finish it off.
I found scrambled egg and beans with salad at the Flora was the breakfast of champions. Bob soup at lunch etc can lead to unfortunate effects from the gastric tract, later in the day though ! Perhaps extra Rakia is needed to stun the gut before it gets up to speed ?
My brother in law was prone to several slices of Gypsy toast with extra fried eggs on top, plus beans etc. for his morning meal !
We should be issued with bravery medals for enduring a whole week of that.
Fill up at breakfast, a decent size snack for lunch, take some multipacks of Mars/Snickers with you from home (rip off prices if you buy them there), and a decent meal for dinner when you've worked up an appetite. All the exercise means you probably won't put any weight on though!
Jocrad - they are not 'rip off prices' there. Imported chocolate just happens to be dearer there. The same as Bulgarian wine is a lot dearer in Britain.
There is a Mars factory in Sofia -161 "Iztochna Tangenta" Str., 1592 Sofia but I still maintain that prices are not 'rip off' prices.
Any sporting venue charges more for the right to sell goods at specific places - and when you realise that some of the vendors are charged 40,000 levs per year to have business premises on the mountains then they have to do what they can to make a profit if possible.

I just find it strange that whenever we buy anything cheaper abroad than it is in the UK we see it as great value, but when it's dearer we see it as a 'rip off'.
Is it me or are you getting off track again?
well in bansko my breakfast and lunch are high in carbs.
but it's nice to eat a huge meal in the evening. I think the Bulgarian milk. As a fresh milk lover i don't like UHT milk, however Bulgarian fresh milk isn't good, but out there is a good UHT milk that's o.k but i advise for children take a large hot chocolate container for good measure.
