Yep lots of dogs bit annoying but go to a Greek island and you get lots of cats!!! Needs sorting though. Also not sure if they are all "Wild" many had collars on.

As for hassle only a few of the Mehanas had people outside trying to get you to come in. 10x worse in Turkey where they do it outside shops as well.

I found the local dogs mostly very friendly! I didn't really have a problem with it too much as they didn't hassle you at all. As for the Mehanas, yeah a couple down the main drag try to get you to come in, just say no and find one on a side street, they were the best.

re: wild dogs+bansko

yeah same as above, wild dogs were fine, not sure on a few with collars but they all seemed to have a metal stud of some kind in their ear. and yeah a few guys on the main drag with classic comments:

"ah you english, come in here no germans here"

"come in, I have a table ready for you, if you not like you not pay"

...then on the return walk up the hill

"I still have your table ready, you want a free dinner"

all in all, harmless banta although we did find as soon as you were in ...

all in all, harmless banta although we did find as soon as you were in the door they seem to forget about you and serve all the locals first.

re: wild dogs+bansko

I sat for an hour with these so called 'wild dogs' and they were as sweet as any dog I have ever met. One fell asleep on my lap and I just stayed with him stroking his head.

Surprizing what a little love and affection can do.

Wild? Not in a month of Sundays!

re: wild dogs+bansko

Yeah i found them great fun. They would follow you up the street playfully, or they were asleep in the sun loving it. I wasn't sure about the tags in their ears, i gather these ones were owned, but they all seemed to have loads of personality. Certainly not wild, if someon got bitten, then i think that is just a bit of bad luck, maybe the dog didn't like your ski suit??
