re: word of warning...

Just back from Pamporovo - taking a week off work to get over that bulgarian bug myself. Coughing, sneezing, shivering, runny nose, general aching (not due to skiing) and very tired. Lasts about a week & Max strength pills & potions do help.

t,c, i did wonder about this, but im a nurse not a doctor, and i can only go with what he told us, i also wondered if it could have been an inner ear infection,......never been quite so high up a mountain before, we didnt know the symptems, but he had been there a few days and had been up on the gondaler a couple of days before hand, surely it would have had an effect on him then, or does it take a while ?

Jackie, It can depend of different people! It could also be the flu as mentioned, but the symptoms sound a bit strange for the flu! Has he been to a gp back here?

re: word of warning...

no, as the symptems seem to be easing a little, at least he is starting to eat, which of course helps, it could well be a combination of all the things, obviously not eatin makes you feel a little dizzy, but he felt so rough he couldnt eat, there was no fever although he got the sweats a number of times, he is still not back to work but im sure he will see his G.P if hes not better in a few days.

I've had it for over a week. It seems to come and go. When it's here the symptoms are: Headache. aching joints, temperature up/down, going off food, upset stomach, eyes feel hot ???, Lethargy, just generally feeling crap !!
Whether I picked it up off my wife, or our neighbour who both had it before we left for Bulgaria, I don't know.

I think you'll find that it was the normal crappy flu going round - you just seemed to catch it in Bulgaria - probably from us English ! I had it at the start of the year and lasted almost 3 weeks. Please don't blame it on Bulgaria - it was probably ours in the first place. lol

For christs sake....... i didnt suggest that the whole of bulgaria be locked away from the rest of the world.........in case of catching the lurgy. all i said was, that there was a "bug" be it flu or what. and that perhaps some of you guys would like to take the precaution of taking some lemsip or other flu type remadies... just in case, it may well have been brought over on the plane.it may have also been something we all eat, it may also be the altitude, it may be that we were so happy to ...
