I am flying out to Bulgaria on 3rd May and have sports equipment for the children at the orphanage.
I am flying Easi Jet. Does anyone have any contacts with this company that I can appeal to to try and get more baggage allowance for free?
We are taking football kit and Kwik Cricket sets. My hubby is a coach for both sports and is going to introduce them to activities they can organise themselves. Hopefully this will help keep many of them organised and teach them new skills.

I took football kit out in March and they were thrilled, especially as they have now entered a tournament. I'd love to get football goals out to them, but they are so heavy. The cricket sets are easy to carry as luggage.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Tried a few weeks back Lesley - they didn't want to know.Appealled at the desk that the over-allowance was for the kids, the lady at the desk just said 'we even charge the army if their kit is overweight'.
Almost every passenger was being charged for excess baggage. Cost us £72 to get stuff over that didn't even cost £72 when we bought it.
No more Easy (Hard) Jet for me!

PeteI was afraid of that. When Julie and I came over for the ski a thong, the girl on the desk said she would have let more through for free, but I can't take that risk.
I may have to try and change booking and add extra baggage and pay the excess. I'd rather use the money to buy the kids a treat.
Thought it was worth asking on here.

Lesley - it doesn't matter how many additional bags you book in you still only get he 20kg luggage allowance. When I recently added an extra bag and filled it with the extra 20kg I had to pay for the excess just like Pete did. I told them that I had stuff for the orphanage and they just yawned and looked completely disinterested.
When I said it was so ridiculous to offer the option to pay for an additional bag they looked at me as tho I was off another planet - so if you want to you ...

Hi,Having seen the Ski – a – thong first hand and donated a bit through the week when ‘The Thongers’ were in Borovets….
I will try and help you on this but no promises.
My friend is a pilot for easyjet and he is going to get me a name, telephone number and or email address for you to contact someone directly.

I have written to all the airlines and we have been trying to find a sympathetic ear since last December to get donations of clothing to the Stoikite Orphange in BG but so far we haven't had much luck. We have simply had to rely on the generosity of our good friends on the forums etc to take less clothing for themselves and some for ...

Thank you Paulio for offering to try and help.I am looking at sports equipment charges, as these seem a bit cheaper than ordinary luggage. I will have to take some clothes for me on this trip
I'm going for a bit longer than the flying visit for the Ski a Thong. Obviously I won't need it for the return flight.I am flying Saturday 3rd May from Gatwick to Sofia. 5403.
