re: Anyone with positive long term hopes for Bansko

so instead of investing in a property in Bulgaria, at lets say 40.000 you invest in a property in the UK. lets say a nice 200k property, oops, damn, just lost 15%.

Bansko is not the only place that has problems, Spain has an over development of nearly 500.000 properties and have been scamming brits (the scammers though are mainly brits anyway) since the 1970's, or you may have bought a property in USA.........

come on, Bansko has the makings of a great place, the skiing is good and the summers are awesome, for people to have purchased more than one or two properties i would say that putting all your eggs in one basket is never a good idea, for people that are going to use bansko as a holiday resort, you will get lots of fun out of it and at least your money back in 10 years

Well a return is only a return if you actually conclude the deal but still, 100K to 300K over 12 years is a compounded return of 9.5% per annum gross. Not bad at all but hardly stratospheric compared to most investment funds.

Errrr, Mat, investment funds generally have lost in the past few years, especially those my pension company was dealing with Crying
I know its not really of any consequence but i definately would consider buying in Bansko now. The bubble has definately burst, the inflated prices driven by demand (and agents promises) are disappearing, more reasonable prices are available and with some homework into ongoing maintenance and management even deals can be struck there to. The only hurdle is the weak pound effectively adding to the price, if we could see an upturn i definately would be out looking around.

Why buy? Just rent off these people (pay in pounds) for peanuts and sit back and relax.
No need to worry about maintenance contracts et al...

Each to his own, i purchased a property in Bansko in 2004, i use it extensively have lots of fun on the slopes in bansko and just recently took an apartment off someone else for a good price, you cant even buy a shoebox in any other ski resort and bansko is as good as most resorts, regardless of what some people may say

Hi I am really positive about Bansko. My apartment is finished, the quality is excellent. The people could not be more helpful. On our block they have a beautiful ten pin bowling complex, bar, pool, tables, darts and plasma screens. Then there is the London Pub soon to open. Then there is the heath suite, shopping complex and outside pool.

We were in Bansko two weeks ago with our two children and a good time was had by all. For me Bansko is more than a Ski resort. It's a little piece of paradise one can escape to. We hired a car and made some forays into the local countryside....Fantastic. We are looking forwards to our next visit.
The way I look at it you get the best of both worlds...winter snow and summer sun. I drove to Bansko in my van in Feb to furnish the apartment and am now planning a motorcycling road trip next year.I cant wait to cruise the Bulgarian countryside. Then there is the golf, the mountain biking...Hey if we make money so be it .. if not I will be too busy enjoying myself to notice. So chin up.. guys Ye ha!

I dont own property in Bulgaria and if Im honest I didnt like Bansko. To long a wait to get to the top, building site blah, blah blah!

The problem I have is my better half and me were chatting last night about taking our 3 kids skiing again. After going through all the travel agents on the tin'tenet Bulgaria kept coming out cheapest all the time. I'd rather go to the 3 Valles but do not have the money. I can get HB for a week for 5 people, ski passes, boots and skis for the kids for the ...

I wouldnt go to Pamps I skied on tarmac there once Wink Its well documented that youve over built however you have a market to aim for, its cheap! Many 1st time skiers go to Bulgaria, many on budgets go to Bulgaria and you make friends who turn up year after year. You have snow which is a must Razz I dont see much advertising for Summer mind, walking, mountain biking etc.

Id always check the webcams to make sure there is snow and we will book last minute but we will be back for the above reasons!

Hi Guys,

This is my first post here, so Hi all Very Happy

I have been browsing the net and have come across a development in bansko which really intrigued me, the place/apartments looked great.

I've never been to Bansko, I tend to go to Andorra or Austria to ski and board from the UK.

What I like about Bansko (from what I've read), is the fact that it sounds to be good in the summer as well as winter, and the Golf, yes I love to golf also Very Happy

I hope to be able to go on an investment trip to visit the area. This will be my first investment abroad if I go for it.

If there is someone who has recently purchased a property in Bansko that is from the uk, could you let me know what procedures you went through, any problems, tips etc.

The name of the development is Lucky Bansko if anyone is interested, or if someone here has bought a place with them already, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know how you find everything.

Many thanks guys, it's sites like this that make things easier for everyone.

thanks.
