there plenty of places around Pamporovo within 30-60 minutes drive you can go and help.Stoikite,Shiroka Luka,Momchilovci,Smolian etc. just a few.
take precaution though and get ready for the big mental shock.Better help via agencies in UK.

thank you mikey I was shot down earlier for raising the issue of the effect on people visiting these places

I am sorry but a day trip isnt going to help.

As far as a big mental shock goes I have been there and done it, saw it in the Dominican Republic and actually suffer from PTSD mself

Hey guys, don't beat yourselves up about going to Bulgaria to enjoy yourselves on holiday. It's great to support people helping on the ground, but it's also important to break down the economic differences that lead to these kind of tragedies.

Go ski. Spend money. Tip well. Enjoy yourselves and tell your friends what a good time you had.

Spot on there Lee, I know that most of the money in the resorts doesn't find its way back to the locals, but every little help. My wife often says that she feels guilty about going to poorer countries, but I say tourism bring jobs that would not have been there before.
