Next Question, as this is our first ski holiday by air and only taking own boots. Do we have to pay extra luggage or do they just get packed in the case with everything else.

Hi, glad you got sorted
last season I had my own boots but partner didn't so we put them in a large shared case. This season we both have our own boots so have paid for the carriage.
Boots weigh about 10lb a pair so (excuse the pun) weigh up the pros and cons

Good news Carolyn to hear you finally got yourself sorted.My wife and I normally pack our ski boots with our normal bags...we only pay for carriage of skis £17.
Some flights allow you to book your boots as well as your usual 20Kg without costing a penny. May be worth checking before you try to squeeze your boots into your case.

Checked with Trvel Agent, booked with Balkan the boots have to be included within the luggage allowance of 20kg-with a charge of £8 per kilo over. As the flight is full they will be strict with weigh in. We will be like michellin men wearing loads. The cost to take your own skis with Balkan is £29.re: BOOTS

We were beginners last year and we were advised to get our own boots before we went on our first holiday so we paid a trip to snow and rock and they were really good they spent ages with us making sure we got boots that fitted well and even heat moulded the soles to our feet for no charge.I would definatly advise spending a few weeks breaking them in around your livingroom and getting some decent socks.
We carried ours on the plane as hand luggage and didn't get charged any extra

Yep...we only pay £17 when we book online with Balkan Holidays for ski carriage. I think if you book with a travel agent, they add their costs to certain items as well.You can get a nice discount for booking online as well...with 4 adults going, we had a discount of £190.

We booked with travel agent and paid the same as the online price!! there was a bit of confusion when booking the travel agent confirmed the booking before taking any payment
My husband was on the phone to me with the costings that was higher than the online price so before he could say NO she had already confirmed, whoops silly girl left with holiday to Borovets with 3 learn to ski packs for Christmas week. After a number of phone calls between them and us, we got it at the internet ...
