Last week when we arrived at Sofia Airport unbeknown to us we managed to leave Angies boots at the airport. Totally our fault and how we did it I just do not know, but we did.
Just 2 minutes after leaving the airport my name was called out over the bus loud speaker and I went up the front of the bus to find out what they wanted. The guy just said to me in broken English - 'you have boots?' Not knowing what he really meant I replied 'yes I have my own boots' ...
As much help as a toothache!
The guy just said to me in broken English - 'you have boots?' Not knowing what he really meant I replied 'yes I have my own boots', and he just said OK.
When we arrived at McDonalds, 2 hours later I approached him again as he was now with a colleague who spoke English and asked what he meant about 'you have boots'. His colleague said a pair of boots had been left at the airport and he thought they were ours. So I asked to check in the luggage hold of the bus and sure enough Angies boots were not there. When I asked why the hell they didn't just turn round in the first place and go and get them when we were only about 1 mile from the airport he said - because I said they were not mine!
They then said not to worry as they would be delivered to us the next day.
The next day came and they said they had a problem and the only way we could get our boots back was for us to go back there in person with our passport - an 8 hour round trip!
Fortunately we have friends at the Malina and we were lent a pair free of charge for the week and we collected the boots from the lost and found on our return journey.
1OO% our fault - but the Balkan rep could have prevented a lot of hassle if they had just turned round and popped back to get them, as they obviously KNEW they were ours!
Hi pete- pleased you had a good holiday despite the initial problem with the boots (or the rep!)
Whats up with the Balkan site for next year booking (or is it just me!)
The web booking has changed, and i went to book the Iglika palace a few days ago for January 16th 2011, but couldnt book the required ski packs on (would only let me book 1 adult and 1 child, whereas i want 2 kids packs)- i e mailed Balkan and they replied saying just make the booking then give them a ring to add another ...

The web booking has changed, and i went to book the Iglika palace a few days ago for January 16th 2011, but couldnt book the required ski packs on (would only let me book 1 adult and 1 child, whereas i want 2 kids packs)- i e mailed Balkan and they replied saying just make the booking then give them a ring to add another child ski pack on giving the reference number. I went to do this but the price i was given on the website 24hours earlier had gone up by over £100!-
also i was informed after contacting them " the prices vary depending upon demand and... if i had booked only 1 adult and 1 child ski pack and then rung them to add another as advised, i would be charged an ammendment charge! Blinging hell like!
Tonight i priced it out again and its still over 3100 more than last week, plus now the system wont let me book any kids ski packs! WHAT THE!
I have e mailed again, and await a reply tommorow1
the long drawn out point being- if the reps are as bad as the booking staff well i am not at all supprised by your experience!
PP as you said 100% your fault, surely you can imagine how often buses have to turn around for forgotten luggage and missing people, I think it was good of him to ask if you had your boots in the first place, why moan on here about it?
Because Niki - if he already knew they were our boots then why didn't he say so in the first place rather than asking a silly question?
Also - I'm sure we are not the first to leave something behind, so they ought to know the format for getting them back, (or do they not know the rules of the airport that they are working from???) rather than lying and saying we would get them the next day which was never going to happen!
i think he was meaning the lack of specific questioning- wouldnt it have been better to say "are you sure you have your boots with you after the airport" rather than do you have your own boots- cos after all you do have your own boots- all be it at the airport!
