going borovets 23rd march easyjet.. flight £66 accomodation works out £15 per night each..
my hotel is signed with balkan so i have good contact with them so i might speak to them today and find out the real deal

we have booked with balkan-4th-11th march from edinburgh....i havent heard of any problems with our flight back...anyone else booked on it and heard different?

i tried tonight for 11th March,and no go with balkan!Next year for us i think!

dee999your flight back is fine it is the flight that was due to go back to sofia is the issue.

if this is the case and Balkan are cancelling all holidays after 11th March, does it mean that Ulen will be closing the gondala from this date?

No Gondola will be open till end of month at least and with easter earlier this year may wait until that is over before closing. Also assuming snow is still good to open.re: Balkan Holidays Strike again!
I find this information to be inaccurate. I am on the same flight and Balkan have sent me a letter stating that the flight is withdrawn due to lack of support not lack of snow.I find it extremely difficut to see Balkan wording such a letter.

my letter says that plus due to snow conditions.
But my main gripe is it took 3 weeks of phone calls from our travel agent to get a 2 week holiday booked and we have not even been offered any two week alernative.
ie we would have considered another airport such as East Midlands and have checked this out and dates were available from 03.03.12-17.03.11.
on this I also checked it out as the same hotel as well.
We were offered 1 week and refund of difference or full refund ...

Don't get me started on this - it happens year in year out with Balkan. They advertise local airports to attract more business then cancel them and move passengers to other far away airports. Happens with Newcastle, Glasgow, Cardiff and sometimes Bristol to name just a few.Happens both summer and winter.
It's about time they were challenged over this as they get away with it every year.
