Hello, thinking about heading to Bansko in January. Never been sking before! Can anyone please tell me about ski hire, lessons etc? any suggestions? any idea of cost? Id appreciate any help, as totally clueless

I would book a learn to ski package through the tour op usually a really great deal. You normally get ski hire, boots, lift passes and lessons for around £100 to £150, the lift pass is usually £100 on its own.The best place to learn in my opnion is pamps lot gently slopes and increases your confidence quickly, Plus pamps has a better attmosphere and night life. Bansko is better if you can ski more challenging slopes.

Pamps has a less reliable snow record and with the new Chalin Valog area there's plenty of scope for beginners in bansko. Bansko also has the 7km ski road you should be skiing by day 3 or 4.re: Bansko, ski hire, ski pass etc
Thanks for replies. Was hoping to book it myself but called into travel agents today. they said a learn to ski pack in 194euro. anyone think i cud get cheaper if tried booking myself, as wud like to bk flights and accomm separately if could.

Learn to ski packs are great value, skis, sticks, boots, lessons and ski pass for £150.00...
Even based on last years prices (prices are going up this year but not much
) with your maximum discount (25% off lift pass) you would still have paid 584lv, about £250.00, based on 6 days, 4hr lessons...
These discounts are only available to travel companies in the form of learn to ski packs, they take some beating....

Our cost for 6 days pass, skis, boots, poles, & 4hrs a day for the 1st three days was IIRC £165re: Bansko, ski hire, ski pass etc
it'll be overcrowded with people who can't ski and chavs destroying the townyou'll love it

If thats the case go in the 1st week of Apr - empty slopes and no Chavs.Actually do chavs go skiing - it is really a middle class sport/holiday due to its high overall cost vs say a beach holiday.
