Boring old Helmets
Michael Schumacher was wearing a helmet , if not he would almost certainly have died during his accident, I know that we all wish him a full and quick recovery, but there is a lesson to be learnt here.
We all know people who ski and board without head protection, please please urge them to don a helmet. I know that both S.P. and D,But have both had incidents when they are convinced that they would have been seriously injured had they not had one on. I to have had a similar incident ( I ...

If you think about just moving on the hill and you get wiped out from above , your legs are taken out first, the rest of your body performs an opposite movement and the first thing to hit the deck is your head.
It is not un-cool to ware a helmet, please, please, give it some thought. Ever year we hear of someone being injured unnecessarily don.t let it be you this year !!
My 13 year old has refused to wear an helmet at the snowdome in Tamworth since she learnt. I always tend to wear one boarding but not skiing, she just thinks they are not cool!!
We were watching the news about Schui and she looked at me and said "can I have a helmet for holiday?"
Ive been wearing a 'skid lid' for the last couple of years (snowboarding). I do agree that it should be encouraged but not made a neccessity or a 'rule'. I did hear some insurance companies were requesting them as mandatory for cover, that saddens me a bit.
On a serious note, before buying a helmet ensure it is up to the job and is actually designed to protect you. There are quite a few out there that claim no protective capabilities at all. So do a little bit of research before you flash ...

Above all I hope everyone stays safe, enjoy the season everybody!
Yes, in total agreement about wearing a helmet. It's not cool not to wear one.
I used to think that because I was so slow and just pottering about I didn't need one - then I was wiped out on the Iglika blue by an out of control snowboarder. I woke up a lot further down the slope from where I had been, was subsequently very sick and felt dreadful for the next few days. Natasha Richardson died a few weeks later, and that really made me think, and appreciate I had been very lucky. I got a ...

Last year I was gliding gently along the path from the top of the gondola down to the Markudjik chair when I hit a patch of ice and as I went down the back of my head bounced well on the icy patch. (SP was with me at the time.) Thankfully I was wearing a helmet - albeit only a £7.99 one from Lidl. But I reckon it saved me a nasty headache or worse.
I may even upgrade this old helmet for a shiny new one this year when I get to Borovets! But although I hate my helmet hair, I will be wearing one.
Injure your self (Head Injury) then find out your insurance is reluctant to pay out as your at fault for not wearing one. Fact of life people, read the small print
Cant agree enough with Manc Tom, S.P et al. Ive heard many people in the past say Im too good, never fall etc so don't need a helmet. That may be true but from what I have seen in the past your ability will not look after you when some idiot wipes you out. Snow Plough took a good hit last year and if it wasn't for the helmet im sure he would of been carried of the mountain.
A ski helmet saved me last year, so add my name to those who would not ski without one. If only you could get a beer helmet to save my head from those hangovers.
