Having been to Borovets 14 times I write this with sadness but unfortunately its true. Unless Borosport put some much needed investment in to the slopes in case of poor snow next year I think they will lose a lot of trade for next year. I have never heard so many people who are repeat customers saying they will not be back next year and I for one will not be recommending the resort to my friends until something is done. Unless Borosport put some much needed investment in to the slopes in case of poor snow next year I think they will lose a lot of trade for next year. I have never heard so many people who are repeat customers saying they will not be back next year and I for one will not be recommending the resort to my friends until something is done. If pamps and bansko can up their game with cannons they must do so. And I am not talking about major stuff but just to put in some cannons on the runs which beginners need so they are not all crowded on to 2 slopes or forced to use runs they cannot handle so endangering themselves and others. Also when they do get any snow on some of the areas to work these properly with the piste bashers to allow intermediate skiers to ski easily all day and not have to negotiate churned up slush in the afternoons even if this extra work during the day.
Other than my rant above I thank all my friends for another memorable week in spite of the conditions.

re:Borosport need to improve for 2015
Some times the truth hurts but you are right dbut.
It is not that long ago that Borovets was the number one ski resort in Bulgaria and given good snow fall it can still hold its' own, but the way the weather seems to be changing there has to be good cover with snow cannons to keep the runs open.
Both Bansko and Pamporovo have invested heavily in snow cannons and have most of their runs working.

re:Borosport need to improve for 2015
Well said Dick!!
Borosport need to up their game, or all the hard work of the people in the town to make our holiday enjoyable will be in vain. It would pay in the long run if Borovets gets the improvements it needs.
You are right that people will not go next year, they will look for places where they can ski safe. I know people who have already put back their date from round the new year to later. This years bad conditions, although not the fault of Borosport will for sure have an ...

PLEASE BOROSPORT !!! We all love the place and the people, but it does need to have a plan when the weather is like this year !!!
I'll be a vet of 14 seasons in Boro come 1/2 term and I have to agree with you DBut and Tom. Not only with the snowmaking equipment unfortunately I'm bored of the runs too. Wasn't this the year of Super Borovets, linking this bit with that etc. It didn't need to be so extreme but other than a few snow cannons, some tampering with a couple of the runs, re-opening an old cut through, a new chair that is rarely open (Marky 3) and a magic carpet, nothing has been done in 14 years.

It's a shame as i'll miss some good friends but I'm very much resigned to going to Austria next season
I'm not going to cancel this time as I'm putting my wife and son 1st and they'd be disappointed if I did but I want some proper skiing next season
Like to reiterate what dbut, Manc Tom, Carnage, Koolski and Emjay have stated. 100%
On a safety theme where were those bloody Ski Patrol ? Ystrabets 3 appeared more dangerous after 1100hrs than a hedgehog crossing the M25 in rush hour. Pure beginners snowploughing down with speedy skiers & boarder just flashing passed with no consideration for the mayhem left behind. I thought the Ski Patrol were there to ensure safety on the slopes. Frightening when sat at the apre bar of the ...

Going to be serious consideration for Boro next season. Plans are in place for Canada next season.
I was so fed up with skiing after 3 days I went back to Boarding. Our instructor was great but by the end of the third day I wasn't ready to move onto the blue runs. He wanted to push the group forward but I felt I wasn't safe.
The queue for the green was stupid so I couldn't see what else I could do.
My wife and daughter were on Yastrabets by the Thursday and Friday so the only way I could get to join them was to go on my board.

I have to agree.

If more greens had been open I would have been able to get more runs and practice. It really has put me off skiing.
Have to agree 100% and never thought id be saying that- but its a costly holiday if you cant do much skiing- and Yastrabets, though skied well- was crowded later in the week with folk on there in groups who really shouldnt be (not their fault most looked terrified!)- instructors took them there!- quite a few accidents we saw!
Snow plough- share your sentments exactly mate- i am pricing new year elsewhere as we speak - hopefully when things improve we will be back as away from the skiing ...

It's been 19 years since my first visit to Borovets, and in the dozen or more times I've been now, as stated by everyone here already, not that much has changed!! Certainly there are the cannons now, all be them in small numbers I couldn't agree more with Emjay regards the layout. No effort has been made to extend the area, or alter the runs in almost any way. You'd think as a business, investment would be the obvious way to increase revenue longer term here, but they just don't seem to see ...

Let's face it, from 19 years ago until now they still can't even clear or grit the main pavements and I still see as many falls at night as I do on the slopes every day!
We all clearly love the resort, or we wouldn't keep returning, or waste our time on here venting, but come on Borosport, get it together!!!
