re: Borovets Lift / Conditions Update - December 23rd

Hi Rigs,

I remember - Alan was the radio DJ wasn't he? Jo was his sister? Is that correct? Gary & Lorraine were the ski instructors - a really lovely group of people but a serious hard-party week!!

Where are you staying on the 7th? Are you then going back to UK and coming back out again? (Is it the 7th Jan?)

Will have to have a drinks meet-up when you're here. Who are you coming out with for the weekend? Also, there was 1 american, 1 welsh who work at the army base in Crete - the ...

Will have to have a drinks meet-up when you're here. Who are you coming out with for the weekend? Also, there was 1 american, 1 welsh who work at the army base in Crete - the welsh one (Francis) is coming out 3rd to 14th and staying with us in Samokov, so you will see him again!

Really looking forward to catching up again!

Bobby & Kas

Kas&Bobby

, this is kind of off topic, but we are staying in the Iglika Palace in Borovets, how far is it to the local pubs/clubs etc? Walking distance? Iv never been to Bulgaria skiing before, nevermind this location so my geographical understand of the resort is slim!

Thanks Smile

re: Borovets Lift / Conditions Update - December 23rd

Hi Rob,

Borovets resort is all in 1 place, so you're no more than 60seconds from a bar! If you imagine where the Rila Hotel is (where the webcam shows the nursery slope), Iglika is in the road behind the Rila. The good thing is, it's nearby everything, but it's not too noisy either.

It may take a little longer getting back depending on how much you've had to drink!!

When do you get here? Trying to arrange meet-ups as last year they were great and we met some fantastic people!

We fly out on the 16th of Jan, so I'm sure you won't miss us, mind you, I don't know how many other 19-23 year olds go in big groups?aha.

I think that IanW off this forum may be on the same flight as I am, and I know for sure he will be in the same hotel as we have already been chatting.

I'm glad everything is 60seconds away, when I looked on the resort map it looked like we were near the samokov but then everything else seemed distant? But the map only showed hotels etc not ...

And I'm hoping we will be able to make it home in good time, uni students perfect this as a fine art Wink

re: Borovets Lift / Conditions Update - December 23rd

I'm sure you'll have a fab time! If there's snow, you should join us for a lock-in at the White House, followed by skiing down the mountain around 7pm with head-torches....perfect for students and anyone slightly 'crazy'!

Ohhh that sounds very tempting!!!

I take it the White House is only accessible if there is snow?

re: Borovets Lift / Conditions Update - December 23rd

You can get up to it via gondola, but can't really have a lock-in as if there's no snow, you have to get the last gondola down around 4pm otherwise you'll be there for the night!! Saying that, we are going up tomorrow and may walk down again - only 10km down the Mussala pathway and seems much shorter after a few rakia's!!
