Borovets Lift / Conditions Update - December 23rd

Hi All,
Apologies for the last couple of days - been busy and no time to send reports...not even sure you will want to read this one...but here goes!!
Yastrebets - Borosport are still providing free shuttle buses up to the 4man chair. Snow up there is still very good but it is just Yastrebets 3 and Popangelov that are open - ie: the 2 runs served by the cannons.
Rila - the 3 beginner slopes are open, as is Martinovi 1 and 2 (blue and red). The conditions on here are icy and not ...

Markudjik - all closed, no snow!
All other runs are also closed...
You may read on sites that the gondola is open - it is, but only for walkers...and also that snow cannons are on - they are not, it is too warm....
Local forecast says it will be colder at the weekend and will be snowing at the top, BUT, I never usually trust forecasts, so I will let you know if and when that happens...!! Also, there is nothing at the top, so a little bit of snow will make no difference...

Thanky you for the information, so the snow conditions in Berlin are much better, a snow coverage around 30 cm and more snow forecasted for the next days.I wish you Vesela Koleda

Hi KasThanks for the update. Are the cannons able to run throughout the night or is it even too warm for that? Lets just hope its doesn't all melt before we get there on Monday and the predicted forecast is right

So the Ski Club Great Britain web site that shows 6 out of 12 lifts open and describes piste conditions as Good, is basically just rubbish.*deletes it from bookmarks

Hi ya,The thing is there were 7 open but the Gondola and Sitnyakavo Express are only open for walkers.....so basically you have the 3 Rila drags (beginners) and the Rila & Yastrebets 4 man chairs...
Bobby was on Rila and said it wasn't great snow but on Yastrebets it is still very good. The good thing (for holiday makers rather than BG businesses) is the resort is very very quiet so the snow is lasting. Next week will see a struggle of there is no more snow...

I'm really starting to brick it now! We booked on Saturday for a group of 10 to come out on the 16th of Jan! Just hope there's some more snow or we will be seeing the inside of a bar more than the slopes

Like I said, there is snow forecast, but we never really use the forecast sites as they change constantly and all say something different. I will stress that Yastrebets 2 slopes (Popangelov in particular) is in very good condition, so advanced skiiers are fine, beginners should also be fine on the rila slopes, especially if the temps go down and they can get cannons back on.
I will keep you posted as much as possible, but you may also need to pray...quite a lot....!!

Thanks for your updates,highlight of the day!Met you last year,was with scottish Alan and Jo,Gary and Lorraine and Shariff and Caroline,don't know if you remember,you were with a couple of American chaps.Anyway coming out on the 7th for a long weekend and then meeting the other lot Feb 12th.
As for the snow will just have to wait and see,less snow = more drinking!can't wait whatever,just nice to be away and always seem to have a great time in Boro
