re: Borovets Lift Pass Warning.

In Pamporovo the one-day pass is the sort where you have to plug it into the machine (which is a pain, gloves off, risk of loss etc) but the 6-day pass just remains in a pocket and is detected by the turnstile as you pass.

Is it not the same in Borovets ?

Unfortunately not, all passes at Borovets are the plug-in type. Sad

I can see why you are not happy about what happened, but if they start replacing passes that are lost whats to stop people fron selling them on, sorry but its one of those things and I am sure other countrys would have doen the same. i know they may be barcoded or electronic but are they all not the same barcode ect?

I find it really interesting reading all of the replies to this post, in particular, what I consider to be the extremely intelligent and considered remarks from JUSTIN who stated that in purchasing a lift pass 'you are paying for a weeks ski lift services and not for a small card'.

I only wish that the people who run Ski resorts (both in Bulgaria and everywhere else), would take the time to read forums like this, and listen to what WE, the CUSTOMERS are saying and implement some of the suggestions. It is in their best interests, as if we have a good experience - we share it. If we have a bad experience, we share that too - which can deter other potential customers - adversely affecting their business.
Finally, as a little tip to all of those who are worried about losing their passes, after suffering the loss of 1 pass, I was determined that it wasn't going to happen again, so I GAFFER TAPED our passes to our jacket chords (first taped the clip shut, then taped around the pass/clip/chord to secure), which then went in our pockets and zipped firmly away! I got a few funny looks at the turnstiles, but I didn't care, I wasn't going to get stung again!

Sorry to hear you've had this experience!

I'm surprised the week-long lift passes arn't "hands free" though.

re: Borovets Lift Pass Warning.

We were in Borovets two years ago a party of 10 people and a local guy always ended up in our photos - constantly hanging around and then my son 22 had his lift pass stolen and we wonder if this guy is responsible.
My Son thought he saw him later trying to "flog" a pass outside the Rila Hotel.

Please take care with your lift pass - it cost us another fee and really they knew we had purchased on and it should have been replaced free of charge as apparently happens in other resorts ...

They could stop the stolen pass and make it invalid and then re-issue a new one - they are electronic after all.

Leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
