Noone knows how dangerous passive smoking is because there has never been a jot of scientific proof that it does any damage what so ever. During over 20 years of frequenting smoke filled bars i've never seen anyone collapse with breathing difficulties. Smoke will probably help a throat infection.
LOL damo, next you'll be saying smoke will help out with lung cancer. i welcomed the uk smoking ban, i can now go into a pub and not come out smelling like an ashtray.
Smoking either active or passive kills, ask Roy Castle.
Just my two pennethworth, yes I am a smoker and no I don't really want to give up.
If smoking was such a guaranteed killer, then why does it not kill everyone who smokes, and why do pepole who have never smoked or been in contact with people who smoke get lung cancer.
Getting cancer is down to having a defective gene, that is why you see some people 70/80/90+ years of age still smoking and never been ill a day in their life. They don't have the "cancer gene"
Any way mini rant ...

It's up to you if you want to play russian roulette with cancer and smoking related diseases with your life. Smoking and passive smoking kills, FACT. A recent study in the States has also shown that pasive smoking can cause breast cancer. And for parents that have young babies and children, you exhale the 4,000 chemicals you have inhailed for 2, yes 2 hours after you had your last coffin nail. Think of that when you breathe over your child.
My family got back from bg on ...

My family got back from bg on Saturday, there is no respect for non-smokers and children there. I think all us non-smokers are asking is that we have some respect and can you please keep your vile, disgusting, stinking, carcinergenic (cancer) habit away from our us and our children.
PP has changed his thread somewhat to suit himself, but then he would wouldn't he.....?
I don't normally write here, as the opinions of other people get swamped, disgarded and deleted.
Arron is a very fair moderater without being self opinionated with the 'I am right' all the time atitude.
I do read the discussion board threads and sometimes shake my head in disbelief by the way people are spoken to and put down, but it's wise not to reply as not to rub someone up the wrong way. It didn't take me long to work out who the controller is and who you must not cross on the board.
Most of you write some great threads, helpful, very enjoyable (I do have my favourites) and somewhat funny at times, thank you very much.
I would also like to wish Arron a speady recovery, get well soon.
Whatever you say there's no scientific proof. My mate has a phd in biomedical science from the university of ulster and one of his collegues had to scrap the hypothesis and restart all of his research because the evidence for damage done through passive smoking was on the most part made up and full of holes. In conclusion the effect of passive smoking wasn't deemed sufficient to carry on with the research as he actually wanted his published work to be the truth and to make a differance.
In a world where 8 year olds are playing grand theft auto while drinking cans of redbull as a found my nephew doing round his middle class mates house there are far worse things in the world to worry about than fictitious worrys about passive smoke. Having managed a pub, with or without smoke it's the last place i'd have my child even if i was on holiday.
Get a grip everyone - did no-one go to france, or any other european nation as a child? Your kids are not going to keel over from a week in Bulgarai. Oh and I am a non smoker with two small kids.
