Bulgarian Levs

Folks.

Can anyone get a better rate than this for Levs.

I can get 2.47 levs to the pound at the local travel agents, or if I bulk buy at least £1500 then I can get 2.52 levs to the pound..

Is that a good deal, or would it be better to go elsewhere or even buy in Bansko with English cashos when we get there....What levs to the pound would we get in Bansko...

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

TY

re: Bulgarian Levs

That's bad,

You should be looking for: 2.7 - 2.8; in our hotel we could get 2.6; at the investment bank 2.7; and in Plovdiv 2.8. All of which was commission free. This was in Borovets, but I can't see it would be much different in Bansko.

Sorry but that is a bad rate. Have a look on www.travelex.co.uk-last time I looked iot was 2.70. Got my currency off them during the summer at the aiport. Don.t know about the rate in Bansko, but if anybody can tell me I'll be grateful as we are going out on Feb 11th. Cheers Mal

re: Bulgarian Levs

Take a small amount and get the rest in Bansko where you should get between 2.70 and 2.80. Take sterling notes in good condition without any rips or writing on them and you can change at the hotels no problem. There is also an ATM in the town.

Got 2.74 in M&S a couple of weeks ago and no commission. Travel agents generally don't give the best rates.

You will get the best rate in the banks in Bansko. We exchanged our sterling in First Investment Bank in the town.

re: Bulgarian Levs

Do what I do

Just take loads on nice clean Sterling notes. When you get off the plane, go to the duty free and buy some chocolate for a quid and ask for your change in Leva (best rate you'll get all week, about 2.80).
Then you are off and running, when you get to your hotel, you will get a minimum of 2.65 at the reception.

re: Bulgarian Levs

On £1500, I could stay all season....nah, there is seven of us going and we were going to all share the £1500 quid....

The woman behind the counter reckons I wouldnt get a better deal anywhere, she was lying to me....I won`t be going back there...

Thanks for the info folks, keep em coming..
