PP, some people have a go at Borovets too. Yet many more love the place and visit year after year.
I'm still considering Pamporovo, despite a few apparent attempts to convince me otherwise.
Steve, anyone can ski fast down a hill, but it doesn't mean they're in control.

Keeping to the thread:
1. Can anyone advise on the pros and cons of the slopes at Borovets and Pamporovo?
2. How do the so called Black pistes at Pamporovo compare to the few Blacks at Borovets?
PP has already given some sound feedback. is there anyone else out there who has something constructive to add?
Anyone one who feels the need to slate the place purely because he/she has previously lacked gumption to ski/board around a piece of mud or rock or failed to negotiate an ice cube on "The Wall" please don't bother replying.
All resorts have areas of high wear and suffer from lack of snowfall and thaws at some time or other.
Thats fair enough snowhsark, but just for your information i'm twenty six years old and have been skiing since 1995, don't presume i'm some learner who can't ski. I am though organising a trip for a bunch of learners and albeit it selfishly i have looked at pamporovo from my own perspective. From their perspective i am sure it would suit fine.
Whereevr you choose to ski i hope you the conditions are good for you.
Thanks Steve. best wishes in your search for a suitable resort for your group.
If you're set against Bulgaria this year, I can recommend Finkenberg near Mayrhofen, Austria.
All the runs your group cpou;d want plus a few you'd enjoy.
And the advantage of Finkenberg over nearby Mayrhofen is:
Mayrhofen is near enough for a night out, but from Finkenberg you can get up the mountain (Same ski area) with much less hassle in the morning.

Franz also has his own ski hire for those that need it.
Thanks for all your advice there snowshark, much appreciated. I'll do a bit more investigating and hopefully have something booked in the next week or two. Who knows, maybe ill contradict my above post and go to Pamporovo. If so, we'll see what sort of time it takes us to do the run Pete does in his video, and you're right, he's certainly flying along in complete control. Have a good one
Steve,Pamps was my 2nd ski hol,and to be honest it was where i learned the most,i loved the hol and thought pamps was great inspite of the poor snow at the start of the holiday..
As Pete points out 10,000s return to pamps every yr, also find that 1000,s of first timers go there,as a result the main green runs takes a real hammering and certainly the bottom half closes on a regular basis...

In jan of last yr every run in Boro was open with fab snow,Pamps barley had any, went back in march and the snow was awful, but they had plenty right on top of the gondola, again pamps was poor coz it's quite low for a ski resort..
Trying Bansko this yr, but not before another week in Boro in January..
Please don't get me wrong,Pamps is a great little resort but if i was going on a "first ski hol" then having been to both i would choose Borovets every time.
If you ski well, then while the rest are in lessons you've got some pretty good reds in Boro and a few blacks which are in my opinion not that difficult but niether or the Pamps blacks or black,Also some decent off pieste out towards the "Avalanche" which is great fun..
Just to add my two penneth worth re snow last year. I went Feb half term and the snow was great. Not one patch of turf from top to bottom. Agreed the season is shorter but you seem to be unlucky last year (we had loads)
I have found pete to be usually spot on with his remarks and helps to run this site well sometimes we post things, and they can be taken wrongly or written with no harm meant, as for steve being new to this site he has posted 2033 times. And i dont think hes been to pamporovo so shouldnt really comment. Hope i havent upset anyone
Excuse me, i'll have to defend my corner here. I have not posted on this site 2033 times, where did you pull that figure from. You are quite right in saying i am not new to this site as i have preferred to read posts than ever gettin full involved in the threads due to reasons already highlighted by Jo's post but you've simply compunded what Jo has said by your own post. Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought that was what these treads are for.
Steve, if you go into Search at top of page and type in Steve (Author only) you will find many different postings there from other Steve's. can only suggest you put a previx to your name.
