Just following on from Pete's Post about the Bulgarians 'listening up' !!

I for one 100% agree with everything that is being said here .... and yes ... this whole topic needs to be forwarded to the relevant hierarchy that have the power to make sure things stay in check!!

BUT

Would the Bulgarians really care what we english have to say?

Are they that bothered !!!

When we were in Bansko last month I noticed that there were a great deal of Russians ... Greeks ... and other foreigners taking their skiing annual holiday ... and therefore it would be very interesting to know ... how many English actually do make up the overall numbers visiting the skiing resorts in Bulgaria in any one season?

And ... if it's not that many or should I re-phrase that ... doesn't make up the 'majority'.... then why would they give a jot on what we have to say!!

Not really or just a little because somebody has to start buying from Brits which realised that the purchase they have made few years ago is a bad one and are ready to cut their losses and sell before the place goes even furhter down the desirability chart.
The Russians and the Greeks are starting to visit BG and increasingly more and more so the gap left from brits and Irish is filling very fast .
it does not matter what nationality goes there.
Anyway the Russians spend more per person and the same goes for the Greeks.
So the things are not going to get better(improving of the infrastructure, more lifts,more runs cleaning the places etc) for the forseable future.
The mind in BG is set for a quick buck and getaway after that.Life is too short.
Sorry for anybody in the middle of it all.

i know it hurts when the reality about BG hits you in the face but be brave.

Not only me , a hell of alot of people are not happy with the current situation which you still want to preserve and keep it under the carpet.
Next is the SUMMER FORUMS
-things on the BG BEACH front are not much better-- actually they are much worse.
so I suggest to you go to the doctor and take some prescription.
Cos Horlicks wont help you at all.

Looking at it from a different angle (and showing my age) the growing bad behaviour of (some) British tourists in Bulgarian resorts both summer and winter over the last few years has left me feeling quite embarrassed to be British. Yes, I like a drink along with the rest of them but the 18-30 culture of pub crawls and drunken groups roaming the streets is not something I want to see when I'm on holiday.

Maybe the price increases will deter them from coming in future. If that's the case - then bang up the prices some more!!!!!

I see where you are coming from there Pete ... and places such as Madeira which is a good example ... not too from our shores .... is a very expensive island to visit which, in turn, does deter the beer swilling yobs ....

I wouldn't have a problem with higher prices in BG if it kept the louts away ... not that I experienced any of that in Bansko .... but if I am paying higher prices .. I would expect a decent infrastructure and a 'Clean and tidy' environmemt to holiday in ... that is most definetely not the case in Bansko ... I can't vouch for Pamporovo or Borovets having not visited there ..

As a 24 yr old, who does like a drink, although I don't count myself as a yob. I don't think the prices going up much will deter people from going to BG, especially in regarding to the Spain & Greece comments, you only have to go to Benidorm, Faleraki now and you will see the English out on the town living it up.. I think its something that our country has a reputation for and is demonstrated by a lot of people, and unless your wanting to go to a very quiet holiday resort, you will always find young english out behaving like "yobs" the cheapness of 4/5 years ago has obviously gone in BG, but I still personally think young groups will continue to go to all BG Ski resorts.... & there is nothing that will change that, you can go to France, Austria Skiing and see groups of people out getting very drunk... Just the way of the world I am affraid... As funski stated, the infrastructure of Bansko is a mess, and the pavements in Pamps an't overly great, the money they are bringing in needs to be invested wisely such as on the slopes, cannons, getting the people who deal with the water for the bloody cannons to have it available. If they are driving the prices up, they need to ensure its worth it resort wise, there is nothing that can be done about snow obviously, but the resort's need to be improved vastly and if they don't, I personally think that people will not continue to return. I am sure a load of people will go back next year, including groups of English and Irish lads, and have a boozy holiday.. That's just my view point.

before Bulgaria wises up and prices out the alcohol holidaymakers, the damage to Beaches and mountains will be done irreversibly and then the comparison with other established places will become even more difficult to do so tourist wont even look at that corner of Europe.

So tricky one for the future.

I have seen in Borovets last week plenty of Brits completely plastered and even in the mornings not knowing where they are clearly drunk, lost something cant pay for services dont know what has been happening last few hours and trying to do some skiing.I have seen large groups of english speaking ''tourists''behaving the same way as in Britain on a Friday Nigh with the same attitude so well documented and known in Europe

The flora in BG resorts is deffinitely changing for the worst.

SUMMER BULGARIAN RESORTS are even worst
-cheaper holiday prices, hot temperatures, alot of 'happy hours' driving the boose up are making happy only the drinking brigades of Europe but at what cost?
Problem is that the administration is very loose in resorts everybody is pre-occupied with quick buck and does not give a monkey about the future direction.

Just example- work is supposed to STOP on the first of May in the Beach Resorts.
Is that so? No.
The Mayor of Sunny Beach has said just very recently that there is no way the construction work will stop on that date because of the so many investor's interests.
Does that smell of Corruption at the highest places?
Yes it does badly!
So Sunny Beach and its surroundings is getting geared for a further fall and this season.shame about the flat owners in there.
Every bulgarian knows what Sunny Beach offers only:
-drinks and drugs,
-noise
-fake goods
-cheap clientelle
and very crowded beaches,
there wont be any one normal going there from this country unless working in or having business interests locally.

I am normal and I am going to SB twice this year as I do every year and I don't like your label 'cheap clientelle' . I cannot fairly comment on SB this year until I've been obviously and the same applies to anyone else including you Mikey. Until you have actually been and seen what prices are like this summer, tourists, (and lets look at them as a whole and not just the drunken 'brits and irish') and the service then lets wait until posts from returning holidaymakers are posted on Beachbulgaria. This will give us a fairer report of the resort than someone who has a downer on BG in general. I am a regular on the warm site and would like to invite you over to itthere to carry on this discussion on the summer resorts with other posters on there.
