re: French Resorts

went to courmayuer a few years back and was excellent, the snow stayed very late in to the season and we managed to go just before easter, place was pretty much dead and snow was excellent!! managed to get away with that.

night life is excellent, people are so friendly and the slopes were of a good standard.

re: French Resorts

I used to work seasons in france, and have been to many french resorts, love tignes, but the last season i worked i lived in flaine, small quiet resort, no cars, in a bowl, reasonable good lift system absolutely amazing mountain area, i have covered many km's in the french alps over the last few years and in my opinion if you are going to ski! flaine and the grand massif is one of the most under rated areas not just in france but the entire alps! awesome, piste and off piste

ok flaine is close to geneva but in my opinion it is very ugly with the concretes buildings around -mind you a little improvement since the canadian company started re-doing it is on the way.
Flaine is with the best snow record year on year.always go for few days at least, every year for a bash on the upper slopes though and to see my friend Mont blanc fro the top

re: French Resorts

depends if you are going to sight see or do some proper skiing, yes there is a lot of concrete in flaine but its a purpose built bowl resort with no through roads people don't really give it a chance, i and everyone i know had the same opinion until i lived there, looks aside one of the top resorts in europe and is only going to get better

re: French Resorts

Briancon is close to the Milky Way but not on it, about 20 mins drive. It's part of Serre Chevalier, with Chantlemerle, Villeneuve, and Monetier but a great place to ski.

The Milky Way includes Montgenevre, Clavier, Sestrierre, Sauze D'oulx, Sansicario, Cesana.

Both are fantastic places to ski, loads of variety, excellent snow,
