Hotel Pamps is out of the centre, Orlevetz is much better situated for night life. Pamps only has a two lane bowling ally, Perelik is much bigger and joined by an underground tunnel to Orlevetz. If you can get Orlevetz go for it.
I've stayed in the Pamps 2 yrs ago it was nice but opted for the Perelik for last two years.
Do not insist on the Panps, we stayed there and had loads of problems, even after the overbooking was sorted the problems conyinued. The bowling is not cheap, about the same as home and the casino was closed for building work, the pool is freezing. Our friends were moved to the Orlavets and loved it, It is a bit modern, but their room was out of this world and the food was great.
I reject totally out of hand the lame excuses tour operators use by saying a hotel is 'overbooked.'
All hotels have X amount of rooms, and once they are booked they are immediately informed with the details of the bookings. Tour companies continue to take bookings EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW the hotel is fully booked for fear of losing the booking. At the last minute they allocate tourists rooms in other hotels that they have not sold in order to maximise their profits.
It is not the fault ...

It is not the fault of the hotel in question as they gain nothing by having rooms double-booked, only the hassle of trying to sort it all out.
Even junior management should know when a hotel is full, and in this day and age it is totally unexceptable for them to get away with this scam year after year. From memory, this is the fourth year running that the Hotel Pamporovo has been deemed as 'overbooked'. How bad is this industry to allow this to happen over and over again. The summer resorts experience exactly the same every year, and it's now become common practice.
If somebody can convince me otherwise I may change my point of view - but I'll take some convincing!!!!!!!!
completely agree with pete this is just beyond a joke and abta should put an end to it, if you change your holiday plans last minute you get charge a huge admin fee or cancellation cost yet the tour companies can tell you on arrival you have got to go to another hotel unreal, problem is the hotels they are dealing with get the blame not the company you have booked with. complain like hell and make a complaint to abta. no way are they over booking by mistake. or are all trvel companies staff ...

Ask, if you swop what compensation are they going to sort you out with for not getting what they are contracted to provide you with. and speak to abta first thing in the morning... pimp x
What company are you booked with. I'm also booked for the pamps on the 24th with 3 kids in a family room. Last visit four years ago they had done the same and we ended up in a much smaller room for two nights. I booked through Balkan, and have heard nothing from them about this
Hi,
I came back from Pamporovo last weekend having spent a week in Hotel Pamporovo. Before I left, some comments on this site had be so terrified that I asked to be changed to the Orlovetz before going on holiday, but wasn't successful.
Having been there, Hotel Pamporovo is fine - we'd no complaints other than that the food is served just warm but that's a Bulgarian issue not a Pamporovian one!

We did visit the Orlovetz before leaving Pamporovo and yes, it is a fine hotel - typically modern with lots of marlbe/tiling/lacking in character, but certainly clean and new.
To be quite honest with you, either one will be fine. Don't go getting stressed about this issue (honestly, they are both fine, it's a case of modern/spotless versus older/charming/dated!). And, for your own sake and that of your friends, don't get into a load of hassle over a refund of a few bob - it's not worth it. Now, go pack for your holiday and, like us, have a truly wonderful week.
