Hi Tracie
I am atravel agent and unfortunately the way it works is a lot of places do over book because some people are a no show which then leaves them with empty places(airlines are the worst for this)especially poor countries like Bulgaria. Please do keep on insisting that you wont move and if you have to at a push do make sure you get compensation for it. Try contacting the agent you booked through to see if they will fight your corner for you though in most cases it is out of their control. I have stayed at the Pamps and it was fine but that was 2 yrs ago so dont know wether it still is ok though should be!!
Good luck love x
Not convinced Ms Travel Agent - what do you mean by no show????? Full payment is required long before departure, and if no payment is made then the reservation is cancelled, deposits are forfieted and the room becomes available again.... so that's no excuse why dozens of people get treated like dirt by tour operators in Pamporovo and Sunny Beach EVERY year who have paid the full amount for their holiday only to be told --- whoops sorry your hotel is overbooked! Also, if it's a no show does ...

Also, if it's a no show does that entitle them to sell a room several times over!!!! Very lame explaination that doesn't hold water.
If like me, other people spend hours and hour researching which hotel they wish to stay in then the hotel they should be in - is the one they chose and paid for. And for others to say any hotel is OK is rubbish, because many travel in a party and expect to be able to dine together, not some in one hotel and some in another.
2 years ago I experienced this at the Alba Hotel in Sunny Beach even though I had booked 9 MONTHS in advance. I was told on arrival in resort that it was over-booked and I had to move, whilst a friend who only booked 3 weeks before departure in exactly the same type of room had no problems and got his room.
And it's absolutely nothing to do with Bulgaria - but the entire fault of the mega rich tour operators that make the reservations in the first place. So don't pass the buck and blame - 'poor countries' like Bulgaria as you put it!!!
