Had absolutely fabulous time in Soldue over New Year. I have been to Pas before and Soldue is much prettier (not a concrete jungle). The slopes are extremely well maintained and the snow has been fantastic this year and it just keeps on coming. (80 cms in the last 48 hours) Apres ski is very good and prices are acceptable.
My advice is choose Soldue.
Pete with repect i have to reply.
Boring pistes: Soldeu 110 runs, 193 kms, 1008 snow cannons.
Pamporova 16 runs, 25 kms, 6 snow cannons. and all the runs in Andorra were boring? Our ski instuctor was English most of the other instructors we spoke to were as well, and believe it or not she actually said more than just follow me!
Nightlife: I think thats down to who your with and what you want We found good food a live band and a happy hour every night.
Maybe it has changed since I was there in 1998 but then there were nothing like 110 runs! just motorway skiing. Nightlife was confined to about 3 bars all with nothing going on except one who had the same pub singing one man band every night doing the same routine.
Our instructor spoke NO English and went off every lunchtime to do a 1 hour 1 x 1 with a private punter.
As all holidays they differ, but that is what we experienced and because of that - never ...
As I said - my opinion.

Hi Paul I went to Sol Du Tarter last year, which forms part of the larger range that you can ski on and had a cracking time. It was mid March, the bottom runs were a little icy and a couple were closed, but you just hopped on a chair lift that was open, and up to the first section where snow was everywhere. Great red runs, lots and lots of interconnecting runs you could spend 4 hours just getting to the top of the mountain as there are so many runs next to each other across the range.

I am going back to Bansko this year for the 2nd time, but would just as easily go back to Sol Du Tarter as well. It's pretty much the same as Basnko exept larger area to ski.
We're not up for nightlife, so after a hard days ski we would have a few pints in the hotel, and be watching a film in bed by 9pm so can't really comment on the night life.
