About cameras, does anyone heard of a built-in video camera set inside a ski/snowboard helmet ?

Something I'm looking at at the moment, although can't justify the price of a GoPro at around £300 for the full kit!

I have bought a couple of DV80's ... tiny thumb sized cameras that you can attach to helmets, ends of skis etc, but they image quality isn't brilliant, especially as there's no built in image stabilisation.

I think I may invest in a little kodak and the wide angle lens kit, as that's really the point of the GoPro, the wide lens. Not paying that amount of money for ...

Still hunting on ebay and Gumtree, will see what turns up

re: Helmet cams ?!?!

1080p = 1920x1080 pixels (16:9), 30 fps, 15 Mbit/s data rate

That isnt true HD either..... Booze

re: Helmet cams ?!?!

It's near enough, need the 60 frames setting at 720p for any sort of speed filming anyway, but with GoPro's you're paying for the specialist mountings rather than the camera itself

re: Helmet cams ?!?!

Dont forget 60 fps is american standard.

Yeah i agree its a good camera, ( in fact the best available at the moment)

However a higher datarate would give a smoother picture, not juts the fps, even at 60 fps it can still be jumpy if the datarate isnt up to it....

Ill be filming at 1920x1080p @ 50fps @28mbps(handheld) would be interesting to see the difference
